Hey Guys just opened a brand new Turtles LE. Game is telling me Node Board 1,8, and 9 are out. When booted game keeps auto plunging a ball. Not able to start a game. Do i need to contact Stern support or my dealer to resolve this

Wow.

If you pull out the interlock switch with the coindoor open do the error messages clear? The game needs high power for node boards 1, 8 and 9 to communicate. Also the game auto launches balls into the van when you first start it out of the box, just let it do it's thing then try starting a game (ensure the game is set to free play as well).

Not going to lie. First time Stern Buyer, 9k machine broken out of the box. Haven't even played one game. This is just beyond shitty

Try what I said above, 98% sure your game is fine...

Whats the interlock switch?

#1006 3 years ago

With the coin door open, if you look at the bottom left, there is a white long switch. Pull it out, that gives the game high power and your error messages should clear. Then go into the standard adjustments and set free play to on and let the game auto launch balls into the van before your first game.

Doesn't seem to be any improvements. Game keeps kicking balls out. Also The game is on code 1.0.4 and i have it set to free play

one of the reasons why i pay a bit to have my distributer bring it into my basement. Anything big wrong hes taking it with him

Are the balls loading into the van or circling around the orbit and going down the drain?

Circling around the orbit

Whose your distributor? I’m thinking of getting a NIB TMNT (never bought NIB before ) but hesitant b/c of stuff like this happening...

I read someone saying their diverter was loose on shipping and it actually fell out. Check the diverter behind the van. It may have come loose in shipping. You probably have to remove the plastic back there as it is covering the mech.

#1015 3 years ago

ive used different distributers on my 3 games. Last two have been flipper fidelity out of PA. No issues there so far so have never had to make a stink. MY LE comes tomorrow and hoping its in good shape

You will get these node errors if you have the coin door open while the game is booting I believe.

As far as the ball, check your connections. We kept having the auto plunger connection come apart, I think it is because it is right above the shaker. We had to zip tie ours together.

Diverter looks fine. That being said my plastic ramp is already scratched up from the Diverter. Like you can run your finger along the ramp and feel the damage.

I've tried booting with the door closed and still the same errors. Keeps shooting the balls out.

When I was a slot tech at a local casino, it wasn't uncommon for the wires to get knocked off of those interlock switches (we called them cherry switches). The machine would think the door is open... I have no experience with this on the these new Sterns, just a thought.

Since the game is launching balls, I don't think it will be the interlock because then no coils woould be working.

The first thing to check is all RJ45 connections on the node and cpu boards. Then check all other connections including the ones in the backbox.

My DP Premium came with a few plugs not plugged in under the playfield..

I'd power off and plug/replug all the RJ45 connectors under the playfield and also in the backbox. Then power on and try again.

If it's still doing weird things, reseat the circuit board molex connectors on the circuit boards and make sure none have come loose. Then power up and try again.

If all it's doing is still just launching balls, catch TWO balls and manually load them in the back of the van. Then see if you can start the game.

#1022 3 years ago

I would also suggest looking at the diverter behind the van and manually make sure it is moving. You can check the van diverter by removing the 2 screws at the top of the purple roof plastic above the van.

#1023 3 years ago

Missed out on the LE so just pulled the trigger on a pro. Without all the LE goodies i just cant see the value in promoting to a premium. Pro seems a lot of bang for your buck. Now for the wait.

Diverter seems to be good unfortunately at 0 plays it’s already scratched up my plastic ramp. At 9k this sure is a swift kick to the nuts

--How do you get credit for Triple Mondo Jackpot? Is it just getting Mondo Jackpot three times on the same ball? Can you get it in both MB modes?

Yes you can get it in BOTH multi ball modes. I went back and looked at my video in slow MO. Its SUPER tough to see how many shots it takes to light MONDO Jackpot.
Here is what my video shows me.
In Turtle Power:
4 Lit jackpots Lights Mondo in white. That jackpot stays lit for some time. Once you hit that Mondo Jackpot, It turns blue, When you hit the Blue Mondo Jackpot it turns red. Hit the red shot and it awards you Triple Mondo Jackpot.
Its super rewarding because you have to focus on the upper flipper and sometimes lose your balls in the lower flipper to get your reward. I have seen my red Mondo stay on for 45 seconds in one video. I think the add time target also adds time to stay lit.

In Pizza Multiball:
It is 6 shots to lite the Mondo jackpot in white. Same rules apply above for getting the Triple MONDO Jackpot.

The game is multiball Heavy which is fine.
Its fun.
The Jackpoto Grande is the SUPER JACKPOT.
The jackpoto Grande and triple mondo jackpot can only be scored in multiball

#31 Came home today!!!! What a relief! I have been checking this blog constantly to feed my anticipation and I have to tell you the wait was worth it! The game is INCREDIBLE!! It is the first pinball game I have owned where when people see it and they say wow! I have already installed a piece of foam for the diverter issue, speaker light kit, cup holders and Red leg protectors (for Raphael). The game shoots so fast and has so many things going on at once which will keep both novice and advanced players busy! The only criticism so far is that fan in the back box is so loud...this is my first NIB Stern in over 6 years so I was not aware that was a thing.

Great job John, Dwight, YetiZombie and team on an amazing piece of art!

There's a mod for that, if you're comfortable with taking out the power supply and changing the fan. https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1170-pin-monk/02140-500w-spike-quiet-fan-plug-n-play-kit

I had all these problems with my LE, 189 node board error, diverter fell out, some loose connection under the pf. Fixed all of them. And plays great now!
The diverter, if screwed in tight should never hit the ramp. If it hits the ramp, the assembly is loose. Tighten the nut by putting a small wrench from back of the pf under the ramp. Pull pf out first. Check all RJ45 connections. Reseat them all. And all other connections. I had alot of loose ones.

[quoted image]

No. Pull pf partially out of game. Where its resting out in the front. Then take off the plastic guard above the turtle ramp that hides the diverter. U have to unscrew the diverter plunger off the back/behind pf first. Then put the diverter back in and take a small wrench and tight it back in. Make sure to adjust the diverter so it doesn't hit the ramp first before tightening. Should be an 8th of an inch gap between the ramp and the top part of the diverter when its open.
If you need help you can call my tech and he can step you through the whole process. PM me.
I had all your same issues. Once fixed its an incredible game! Nothing like this in years. Not since TWD imho.

I think whomever is in Stern’s QC department needs to be fired. $9k+ game should be flawless out the box. Can understand loose cables during shipping and small adjustments. But all the diverter issues is unacceptable! I bet all the LE owners have marks on their ramps above their diverters. This is because its loose and will eventually fall off. Like mine did. In fact, my diverter was so loose it was never tighten and just laying loose in my ramp. I only checked it first because of this thread. Mine was worse than others. However, if you own this game double check yours and tighten the shit out of it so it doesn't ruin your ramp or fall out completely like it did in mine!

One fixed it plays perfect and this game is great! Current code is very complete and co-op play is incredibly fun!

Thanks for this, but can you talk specifically about which of the fixes is for the 189 node board issue? Another pinsider mentioned the interlock which does solve the problem, but it returns as soon as I let that switch out again... shouldn't have any tech alerts simply because the coin door is open.

#1044 3 years ago

As a side note, I had an issue for the second time, curious if others have seen it:

During a MB, when balls get behind the upper left flipper, behind Lair, sometimes those are not recognized and just sit. Last night it happened again with my last 2 remaining balls and the MB timed out and a resulting ball search occurred to drop them finally. I have relatively low plays, but this is twice occurring and not sure if it's software (only seen this with MB which makes me think it's not the switch) or what.

The coin door switch a security feature. If the Coin door is open high volt power will be switchted off. This will shut down coils and some nodeboards.
When you reach into the coindoor you will not get a highvolt electro shock.

I just noticed the right slingshot is firing every few seconds even when the ball is in the shooter lane. Is that an easy fix just by separating the connectors more? Thanks

#1047 3 years ago

I heard through the grapevine that to stem the clear coat pooling problem (around posts etc), they’ve turned down the tooling machines, and now everything shows up loose and or falling off. Not sure how true this is,but kinda makes sense with what’s happening with tmnt. I’ve heard of jp2 showing up nib, and the buyer having to tighten basically every single nut n bolt, sucks ! they really need better qc at stern!! Should be a line of testers, players, techs, software guys etc.

#1048 3 years ago

Could it because of covid and limited staff? Or is this a pretty common thing with Stern?

Simple switch adjustment. The leaf switch arms are too close together.

Yes, I would suggest getting a leaf adjuster.
