have you used the same stick for other games?
another test could be to save the highscore and settings to the usb stick. If this works it at least shows the usb was recognized.

the sd-card method is sometimes tricky too, but another way. And you have always a way back to old sd-card if you use a new one for your update.
Hope you get it working.

Hope you get it working.

The first time I used a stick that I used for my Munster premium but I deleted it and then downloaded the code for tmnt but it didn’t work. So I went n bought a new one and tried it but had the same results nothing happened when I turned it on it didn’t recognize the update at all.

I would start from scratch. Re-format your SD card. All of that is available from Sterns site under support. Here is a walkthrough video i found to be helpful:

Absolutely appreciate the update, but nothing there worth losing Scandall’s April mod over. His April O’Neil mod definitely gives TMNT that deluxe look and feel over Stern’s very poor animated job on April, a key figure in the game. Won’t upgrade till Scandall’s mod code is upgraded.

Love that there’s a new update published! What’s “impossible play”?

Also - I’d never seen Neutreno Party until the last update making it available with persistent turtle leveling via IC. Now with it being behind 3 completed L4 trainings (for a leveled up turtle) time to never see it again.. fun while it lasted!

When you are between games, hold in the flipper buttons and it will take you to the GAME PLAY MENU. There you can select from a few different game play modes. Choose IMPOSSIBLE PLAY or MONSTER PLAY.
Once choosen, your game will display meters for each flipper. When you press a flipper button the meter will drain. Once drained the flipper will turn off.
To recharge your flippers you have to stop pressing the flipper button.
IMPOSSIBLE PLAY also sets all your settings to VERY HARD.
MONSTER PLAY is the same as IMPOSSIBLE PLAY except only for player one. All the other players will play normal.

Very nice Dwight. Really love turtles. It sets itself apart from my other pins in layout and the great coding you have done. So much to do. And so different. Looking forward to loading this update and connecting it up to insider. Still a family fave. Thanks again for your hard work.

To be clear, no unkindness meant toward Dwight, as he is my favorite programmer and does stellar work. He did’t do the subpar April Oneil animations, so my comment was not directed at him at all. Wish Stern would just accept Scandall’s superior work and put it in the code. Would make everyone happy and so easy to do. No copyright infringements, as it is the same approved artwork done by ZY all over the machine. There is no difference in art design, just same April ZY artwork, animated leap years ahead of the mess that’s there now.

No worries mate. (1.51 code is awesome, TMNT should be easliy rated top 5 game of all time! Real sad state of affairs is, if it had JJP or Spooky label on it, it would be heralded by Pinside crowd as one of the most pack, best art, most toys, like unto Bally/Williams days ever made. Because its under the Stern label, there is great resistance by Pinside to give it any credit to its greatness.)

For someone without IC in my TMNT yet, I'm reading this as level 4 now to activate NPP? Man, that's gonna be rough for me. haha Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. You start at level 1, so first completion puts you into level 2 and third completion puts you at level 4?

Yes, correct. Which training levels are tough enough on their own, but so fun to complete. With such stellar pinball moments with sights, lights, and sounds as they are completed. Love level one training completion sights and sounds! So getting to NNP without IC is near impossible, lol.

Darn, that was my current fav thing to do on the board. Leo, level twice, then see how long I could go in NPP. Guess it's time to "git gud" as the Elden Ring players say and finally get to level 4!

I’ve only finished 2 of my games. WCS94, NGG. Think it’s good to have stuff unseen for years to come. Feel sorry for all the players out there that see everything in the first few months.

To activate NPP, previously you only had to be at Level 3. With IC persistent leveling, you could save your levels and NPP would be unlocked at the beginning of the game if you had unlocked L3 already. I really liked that - added more variety to the game. It still wasn’t super simple to start the mode even when unlocked - you have to hit each target on the sides of the left ramp, and then the left ramp itself.

With the update, you have to gain three levels in a single game. If your character is at L4 already, that would mean you have to complete level 4 (hardest of all training levels) 3x in a game to unlock the mode. Does completing a training even give you any/many points?

I think I’ve only ever leveled up from L1 to L3 in a single game once or twice, and I have like 800-1000 plays on mine at least and a top score of 114M.

With that said, was my first pin and don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it - love my TMNT! Even though I have a JJP GNR only a couple months old, I still find myself playing my older TMNT as much if not more.

Yeah, I've had TMNT for more than a year now and only gotten to Neutrino Pizza Party once lol. Maybe a future update will allow for the previous settings for non IC users.

Glad we have a code update and adding in impossible play is a welcome addition. A little bummed about the Neutrino pizza party getting gated behind completing 3 trainings again. It would be great if in a future update that could be an adjustment. Where we could either choose to have it available to activate at any point once at level 3, or after completing 3 trainings. I'm not a super great player, and only got to NPP once between the mode being added and the last update. Feels like a step backwards for not great players. It felt like a nice reward for purchasing IC for turtles, that I got to play NPP more often. It actually makes me hesitant to upgrade the code to 1.51.

I think I'm going to load 1.51 on a new SD card, so I can at least get the unglitched achievements. But, then I'd have the option to go back to 1.5 if I wanted.

Love everything about this update….. except the Neutrino Pizza Party being locked behind 3 levels in one game

Getting to level 3 without insider connected is almost impossible, and that mode is so fun… GAH I wish it was an option to leave it like it was it’s a huge incentive to sign in and level up your turtles.

I'm not a super great player, and only got to NPP once between the mode being added and the last update. Feels like a step backwards for not great players. It felt like a nice reward for purchasing IC for turtles, that I got to play NPP more often. It actually makes me hesitant to upgrade the code to 1.51.

Dwight Xaqery ia there any chance you could make an option setting so we can maintain NPP play after completing training level 3 like it was in code version 1.50? Even having that option with NPP available at the start of a level 3 turtle, it’s still challenging, but more fun to feel we really achieved something by getting our turtle to level 3. For those that are super players and like very hard challenges, they can keep the train 3 levels or complete level four again before unlocking NPP as a default option. Please consider putting 1.50 NPP access back into the code. Thanks again!

What about co-op mode? Can three players each get to level two and qualify NPP? That’s three levels.

No they’d each have to get to level 3 in the same game for each to qualify for NPP is my understanding. Which would be quite difficult to do. After achieving level 3, if any other mode is started, NPP goes away. It’s such a fun level to get to with all the lights turning red to make points, with only one blue light to collect them, all the while Nurtrino/Turtle DJs running a TMNT disco tech. Very fun mode, but hard to achieve. IC leaped it forward somewhat in 1.50, but 1.51 took it backward 10 steps. Now IC is not near as advantageous as it was in 1.50. Simply not going to upgrade over this issue either till a solution is offered. 1.50 still better imo, other than the fixes.

Balls making it past the glider is my only complaint about this game. I turned down my right flipper power a little and it helped, but a ball still sneaks past every now and then. I wish the glider moved faster, or was triggered by the first ramp switch instead of the second ramp switch to give the glider a bit more time to get into place.

I see alot of complaints about Neutrino Pizza Party going back to being locked behind Training Modes. I am a big fan of this change because there is a lot of points available (but not guaranteed) in the Mode and it makes Training Modes worth completing.

I understand the people who feel like they're never going to see the mode now, which is understandable. I've seen suggestions of adding an adjustment so Neutrino Pizza Party can behave the same as V1.50 when connected to IC. If an adjustment like that does happen, I'd suggest significantly nerfing the points available when this adjustment is enabled.

Oh boy, would that be nice. A paper bag overlay would even be enough for me. Some of the animations are really solid, some are passable but that April one hurts to see.

I want to keep a copy of 1.50 code, can I only flash an SD card with a writer or can I put an empty SD in the backbox and add code on it like an update?

Seriously, Dwight does a release and complaints come thick and fast.

With NPP you have a choice. Don’t login to IC or reset your turtles and you can level up easier. It is an incentive and reward for levelling up. Everyone whinged that the level up wasn’t worth it because it was end game by the time you did it, so Dwight added this awesome mode.

If you do want to keep your levelled turtle than you already have all your powers making the game easier to score. NPP may be harder to obtain now.

Maybe some suggestions are in order rather than complaints. Must be really demoralising for the guy. He’s on here reading your messages. Also praise the guy he is one of the only coders to listen to his fan base and interact.

Edit: remember you can reset your turtles level in IC and this resolves the problem no? You can’t keep your level and have NPP as an easy mode at the same time. What’s the point of having wizard modes if you can play them straight away?

Personally haven’t even seen NPP yet. Got to level 3 once before it was coded. But I will get to it one day, and that gives me something to strive for. Looking forward to it.

Speaking of which fellow turtle owners what can I do to make this game a little easier ? Outlanes still kill me ! Any settings that help ? I like to go stock but man I can't get anywhere lol .

Mine are:
- flippers change Battle Again lit lane
- flippers to factory default. I had originally dialed these back per suggestions here, but last month I changed to factory default and shots have been SO much easier - your mileage may vary
- some have put a little rubber bumper at the top of the left outlane to stop excessive drains there. I don't feel it's unfair or excessive, so I haven't added it.
- There's also a lair save timer that's off by default. Enable that if it's not and set it to somewhere between 3-5 seconds. That'll keep you from losing the ball if the lair drops your ball into the outlane.
- And there's always making extra balls easier - (replay award, light after two episodes, I think there's another?)

Or making Neutrino available after lvl 2. Lighting training and completing the mode takes time. I think it's a perfect reward/compromise for completing lvl 2.
