Quoted from dinot:Got my parts back from the powdercoater. Color is Transparent Dormant Sparkle Granny Apple Smith - Tiger Drylac.
I was going to go with Illusion Green Ice by Prismatic Powders, but I had a machine done a few weeks back with a Prismatic powder and it took a couple of weeks just to get the powder in (They typically deliver in 2 days). The powder coater had this color on hand so I went with it.
Love it! Wow! Wish I had a powder coater nearby.
So I just finished upgrading the sound on a few of my Spike 2 pins.
I upgraded the speaker panel with the Speakerlights kit (which gives you a 5.25" speaker mount)
I also bought:
- Klipsch Reference R-12SW 400w subwoofer
- Aiyima 300w x 2 Class D amplifier
- Pinsound Subwoofer & Line-Out connector for Stern SPIKE
- JL Audio C1-525x speakers (they have a yellow woofer cone which matches nicely). Originally I had the Kenwood KFC-1366s that Stern uses on the LE, but they sucked.
After upgrading I was shocked at how good TMNT sounds. I was thinking that this pin would have the lowest bang for the buck. I also did Star Wars, and Stranger Things (but they had different backbox speakers). Star Wars doesn't have a line level out for subwoofer so I had to use a speaker level to line level adapter. They all sound fantastic but TMNT sounds great.
Anyways, if anyone was on the fence, I say take the plunge. I have all of the parts also ready to go for Mandalorian.

I wish there was just a kit of some kind. This sounds like a lot of different things to order. I’d happily spend $400 to upgrade the sound on my new machines but would just want to make one order, not 4 or 5.

Pinwoofer kit!

Did this on GNR LE and it is well worth the money.
Quoted from bossk4hire:I got this and just added an external sub. Works great with a polk 10 inch.

Easy to install and pull to put in your next.game.

I started with that and it works well. I moved over to the Pinsound connector because you get Line-level outputs of both subwoofer and backbox speakers.
Pinwoofer sells a kit but I wanted an externally powered sub vs a free-air sub.

Thanks daveyvandy and great to learn about your experience with GNR!
Get everything in one box without hunting for the right parts, locating a safe and quiet power solution and spending hours or even days of effort that may or may not sound good.
Installation is trivial and fully supported with instructional videos:
Treat yourself well; a few simple hand tools are needed for the speakers and the electronics feature plug and play ease. You deserve the best and that's what you'll get.
Thanks for your time,

Mod update. An awesome member here 3D-Printed me the belt for my Krang Android Body! Also, was very lucky to get in on the burning building package from another member.

It seems extra ball doesn't come nearly as often as some of the other options like 'big points' or increasing the bonus multiplier. Perhaps that's just confirmation bias at work? There also doesn't seem to be a reliable way of getting into the bumpers.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?
Additional question: can you get more than one ball this way or is it capped? I can't remember ever seeing it twice in one game.
There wasn't a response to this. Just surfacing it once more in case it can generate some thoughts. Apologies if re-raising is against the community norms, but I am definitely curious.
Probably going to list a Premium with some mods. Playfield protector and cliffy shooter lane protectors, before ball 1 touched the field, Mutegen Canister Flasher Mod as well as PinMonks Turtle Select Upgrade and insert upgrades. I also changed the Red T-Molding to Green but still have original red that I will include. Currently 45 games played, will go up by 10 or so. 7500. Late February build, no playfield issues whatsoever. Can prep for STI/BELTMAN.
Quoted from Coolpinballdino:Just added a TMNT pro to the collection. Question does anyone know under which setting changes pizza multiball into virtual locks. Instead of the ball locking in the van thanks.
Balls don't lock inside the van on the Pro. That's a premium and LE feature.

I may even trade for another Pro. Had Pro and regretted selling. Bought Premium and it is much harder for me. Love the game, just had more enjoyment from longer play times on a Pro.

I think he is referring to locking in the "Ninja Pizza Parlor"/under the van. If so, there is no virtual lock setting as far as Im aware, though it would be a nice option to have. As it would set you up for more frequent shots to the upper flipper ramp.
Snagging a new playfield from Stern (for free and they were pretty easy to work with!) due to poor print quality. Not sure what ill do with it quite yet as I know I don't have the smarts to take everything off the old one and put on a new one.

I just did that swap a couple weeks ago. It's a big project, but if you take your time (and a ton of pics), it's really not bad. I've been in the hobby a long time, and am no stranger to projects, but I still learned a lot doing it. And now I'm thrilled to have a playfield that does Zombie Yeti's artwork justice. It really makes a huge difference. I smile every time I look at it now. I highly recommend jumping in...nothing to lose but 25 or so hours of your time.

I've got a HUO Pro I'd trade with cash for a Premium, but you're 11 hours and 717.5 miles away. We're not super conveniently located close to each other.

Cool yes that is what I was referring to Shaub. As it seems when I have two balls under the van. The third one seems to reject a lot.

I live in Ohio. If you are interested in a trade for a Pro for Premium. Let me know.
I have a Premium and have never played a Pro. What makes the Premium more challenging? Is it that you can't plunge into the pops or is there something else?
Quoted from plasticbugs:I have a Premium and have never played a Pro. What makes the Premium more challenging? Is it that you can't plunge into the pops or is there something else?
Personally after owning and playing both, think the LE/premium is far less challenging for the simple fact it has a lane diverter and the mushroom ball lock in the LAIR. Just to name two.

This was my thinking as well. If I have a mushroom topping, I would say I get a ball locked in the lair most games. That's a nice way to extend your multiball. My game is tough, but I am getting better at reaching Team Up on three balls. Yesterday I got my first 40M plus game. That's after 500 games and this is my first pinball machine in the home.

I changed my flipper rubbers from Titans (difficult ball control) to Stern red flipper rubber (best ball control and lower bounce, with no ball spinning on rubber like Titans), which has a Stern 70 Duro rating (Stern black has a 100 Duro rating for comparison - harder) and my game now plays like a dream machine. Sooooo much easier than before, can’t believe the difference.

I'll definitely pick up the stern rubber for my flippers the next time I switch them out. Thanks!

Marco sells them too.

TMNT now plays so well and can finally advance to final battle, where as before never got there, playing regular 3 ball. Borg designed this game to work well using the most important part that touches the ball, we control, which is actual Stern rubber. I foolishly switched it out when it arrived to slick ball spinning high bounce silicone, because I liked the colors. Lol Always thought this game is fun, but really tough till started using the rubber game was designed with, which was black, but Stern red being 30 Duro softer gives even more ball control for TMNT.

Quoted from onemilemore:Was just thinking of doing this! What strip/how did you hook it up? Looks awesome!
Yeah I used a through light 2in Cool Natural white LED strip from cointaker and ran the line down through through the layer flash lamp next to it. Cord runs straight down to the underside of the playfield and with alligator clips I connected it to the white GI buld. Will attach photos.
I hot glued the strip in place but DBL sided tape will work also.

Well I almost bought a nib pro last Saturday. Called my distributor he was cranky, put me on hold for twenty minutes. After that I shelved the purchase.

Yes, all the time. Not necessarily for Extra Ball, though. There are a ton of good rewards in there. Light Eps, light training, light TPMB, etc all cut down risky shots.
Just added some sweet nuclear/ooze drink holders courtesy of @garretswinning.
I liked the green, but on the game the ooze is pink. Couldn't make up my mind so I got both. My daughter loves having the pink one for her and the green one for me.

This is going to sound stupid, but have you checked your balls for magnetism? It’s a common issue that seems to cause strangeness like this.

First two are bugs. Third is an issue with your machine. You have a switch stuck or not registering correctly somewhere either in the trough or van. Make sure they are clean, tight, connected, good solder, adjusted right, etc. Or as stated above, magnetized balls could be sticking together and not sitting exactly where they belong to register correctly.
