Here is what I wanted to do but is not working. The blocked view of the "FIRE" inserts on AC/DC is pretty dang annoying. No problem I though, I will just tie in some regular 555 socket LED's and mount them below the lane switches to lilluminate the slots when each of the letters is lit. I did something similar on my Judge Dredd by illuminating the slots on the captive balls to glow when the reactor light is lit. Well, this is all good in theory, but I guess the light boards that Stern uses do not run on enough voltage to power a standard 555 LED. It just barely pulses and barely visible to the eye.

So, plan B, if I bought 4 of these:

Could I just chain each one into the board for each letter and it would still light up ok without dropping the voltage too much for the other LED board?

Those LED boards run off 3.3V which is why your other LED's would barely light. I would think that chaining one to each other board would be fine since it is an LED and does not have much power drainage.

When I added the tournament button to my ACDC premium, the button wouldn't light with an incandescent but did light with a normal 6.3V LED.

The little surface mount board idea sounds like it would work.

Ya I think I will give it a go. I hate having to duck to the right to see if the R is lit during multiball...lol
