Suddenly I've got no sound coming from my TWD. Seems coincident with the recent ROM upgrade. Swapped in speakers panel from AC/DC, still nothing.

Did some research and found that U16 DAC is a common fail point. Had a tech with a surface mount hot air rework station replace it with a new chip. Work done looks perfect to the best I can tell.

I have no idea where to proceed. Is there anything I can check safely with a DMM, logic probe, etc.? I may start with reflashing the ROM, although this makes no sense. If the image was corrupted, the game shouldn't boot and otherwise play normally??

FOLLOWUP: As a software engineer, I'm baffled how this is possible, but the lack of sound was caused by a bad software upgrade. I'm not sure how a game could boot and play otherwise fine, but alas when I reflashed the ROM a second time, the sound returned. Shrug. Probably didn't need a new U16 afterall.
