There is a wire in the mix of wires coming from the backbox that when moved, it makes the entire lot of backbox GI illuminate. For now, I was able to keep them on, but I plan on truly isolating that wire and figuring out what's making it faulty.

Seems, you have a connector problem and/or a cold solder joint at the connectors and/or a broken/weak fuse-holder.
Easy to solve your problem for you. Simply follow the brown and brown/white wires to the connectors to the connections and you will find the weak point.
