I did a playfield swap on my Taxi and upon my first boot up I realized I made a mistake. I mounted the solenoid under the apron with the lugs facing up and created a short. I checked all the fuses and all are good but I still dont have the the outhole kicker, as well as a few other and most flashers. Looking at the manual I am going to guess I fried Q33, and a few others.

All my pop bumpers work, both 3 bank, catapult, spinout kickout, bell, knocker, and slings. 2 Flashers work, I can list it is helps but can't remember which specifically off the top of my head.

Any additional direction or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! Todd

Yup test that transistor , I bet it took a hit

Did you look under the play field for a fuse with a brown wire connected to it?

#4 4 years ago

Would it have stopped there? Or do I need to test further? Also, I what is the easiest way to test? I have tried a couple methods I learned online in the past but never seem to get conclusive results.

I will check. I missed that one. Thanks!

I do not see any fuses or recall moving any fuses over. Only fuse under the PF is in the power box coming from the outlet.

Just looked at the manual and it's f2a on the aux power supply.

I will take a look. I checked all the fuses for continuity and all were good but I will double check that one specifically.

Looking good but still need to figure out coils and flashers.

Voltage at outhole kicker, but still won’t fire.

Put the game in coil test and lock it on the outhole coil. Then take a jumper with one end connected to ground. Briefly touch the other end to the metal tab of the correct TIP for the outhole coil. Does it fire now?

No. It doesn’t fire.

When I boot the game, the spin out kicker and catapult fire though.

Then you have a wiring issue. You need to check continuity of the violet/brown wire on the coil to the inner connect board, and from the inner connect board to the aux power supply and then to the cpu board.

Would this cause it?

Also. The coils on the brown wire chain are only measuring around 9-10V.

When you said you had voltage on the coils, I assumed you had 39 volts DC. Check for power on both side of F-2a and J-11 pin 4. What do you get?

#16 4 years ago

I get the same 9-10v both sides and at the pin.

#17 4 years ago

To note I also don’t have any voltage at F2C

Check for voltage at both sides of F-2 or W-6. Not sure which you have.

#19 4 years ago

Not sure what you mean by F-2, or W-6

Found it. It measures 40V on right and 10V on left.

There you go a bad W-6 zero ohm resistor. Replace it with a paper clip or a lead from from a electronic component such as a bridge rectifier.

#22 4 years ago

Thanks Grumpy! It ended up being W6 on the power board. It is 0ohm resistor but guess it went bad when I shorted. Replaced with a jumper wire, now good!
