On my POTC, the 30 degree coil (the one near the pop bumpers) does not properly eject the ball out. It fires, but just doesn't get it out, like it doesn't have enough power. There's nothing physical stopping it - it fires properly, just not enough juice to get it out of the socket. Everything else on the machine works perfectly. Ideas here? Anyone ever used a slightly more powerful coil? I've seen this on several POTC machines (my other one was pretty weak too)...

Did you try taking the mech apart, cleaning the plunger, inspecting it for wear and replacing the coil sleeve?

Yep, sure did. It seems to be absolutely fine. Replaced the coil as well, made no difference at all.

Check the quality of the wires leading into the coil (all conductors intact). Go upstream on the common power wire and check there as well.

Trace the switched (ground) wire back to the driver board and check the connection into the driver board. Could be a bad IDC connection on that wire. Tarnished or worn pin on the header connector on the driver board.

I replaced the entire mechanism and it seems better. It still doesn't really fire the ball out very much though. How far should that coil be sending the ball? All the way to the pops? Or just rolling it out and down? This is the second POTC I've owned and I think both just barely moved them out so kinda curious what the behavior there SHOULD be...

Not sure whats "normal" but mine never makes it to the pops. More like just barely gets out of the scoop.

Thanks for the info! That's what mine is doing and like I said, pretty sure that's how my older machine was too.
