Hey all,

Small problem with my slugfest.

You can play one game and then the game starts running through the service menus. Disconnect the molex and it stops. Reconnect and it starts again.

Turn off machine. And the cycle starts over.

Swapped the service buttons out no improvement. Going to reflow the pins tonight.

Any other suggestions

Is there battery acid damage on the cpu board?

bballfan's post is first thing to check.

Then be sure the backs of the switches aren't shorting to metal.

Be sure nothing is on or behind the coin door interface board shorting things.

Last would be an internal short inside the coin door harness you can't see.

And yes it sounds like possible alkaline leakage.

Just working on a very similar probl with a Slugfest I just picked up. Acid damage around u16 which controls the dedicated switches like the diagnostic buttons. Look at that area

So I pulled the board and yes there was some acid damage from a previous owner.

Pulled some components, cleaned it up and reflowed a few things and she is rockin.

Tomorrow she will be off to a new home.

I know many dont like this machine because of your purist nature but its a great party and 2 player machine. Since I spent some time with it tonight play testing it and such I will be sad to see it leave. Just not enough room for all my wants.

Plus if Tim ever gives me back my NBAFB that looks like it MIT be the new garage game. Unless I get in the selling mood again.

In e end. Thanks for everyone's insight and tech help. This one is solved.

What will it take to get you in the mood?

(Please, feel free to take that question out of context.)

And it just go weird again.

Dude, I picked up the pin from Tim and we played it for a while at his house and its just so fun. I really like it. I think it might be a keeper; for a while.

It plays 100 times faster than that one at MGC. Plus I want more than you should spend on it. .

That game is super fun as a multiplayer. I am glad I was able to drop some hardcore mid-90's NBA knowledge all over ya. Boom-shaka-laka!

Just play it a ton and get sick of it.

I don't mind your sloppy seconds.

Copy that.

I have wants and needs. Find me one on my list.
