So-

Game is throwing a slam tilt occasionally during multiball. Nothing appears out of the ordinary in switch test - no double activations or anything like that. Slam tilt switch was actually removed from the circuit with no change. All diodes are in the right direction and switches wired correctly. Any ideas. I'm dreading digging into this blind.

Thanks-
Mike

I have had this. Try to figure out how many balls are in the trough to trigger this. It usually occurs when more than one ball is on the playfield AND you hit a certain switch. I would see if its simple and just on the row 1 where the slam and the trough optos are but in my case it was more complex as the optos do weird things.

If you figure out the number of balls on the playfield when this happens you can start multiball put the remaining balls in the trough and trigger switches until you get the slam tilt. Then go from there.

In my case, I had a smashed diode where the wires touched without needing the diode. that was causing the switch matrix problem when certain combination of optos in the trough were on/off and the CPU interpreted it as a slam tilt when I hit a switch.

I had this issue, it happened to me when the ball was in the Merlin hole and shooter lane at the same time,so only occurred during MB.
It was a backward diode in my case, I think it was on the shooter lane switch.
Also check Merlin hole and troll face switched carefully.

Look for a second slam switch to the left of the coin box. Connects to the bottom of the coin door board. Unplug and you should be fine.

What does the slam tilt notification look like. Just picked up a MM royal and getting random tilts during Multiball but not special messaging.

Is there a specific slam tilt message or is my issue considered slam tilt?

Thanks,

Mike

Took off the tilt bob and that may have just been way too sensitive. Played a couple games with lots multi ball and no issues so far.
