I have a Rottendog DMD controller DMD089 that is causing all dots to illuminate on the display. I swapped in a WPC controller and the display worked fine. All voltages checked out. Any ideas of what might be causing this behaviour? Also can I use the WPC scamatic for this or are there differeces?

    Thanks Don

Can you get a photo of this compared to the "all dots on" display test using a normal Williams controller?

Did you buy the board new? I just call jim at rottendog whenever I have had an issue with a board. He will typically warranty about anything. I've just sent them back and he fixed it and sent it back to me

The board came in a game I purchased so not sure of its age however it does look new

The williams controller functions normally its only the Rottendog that exhibits the behaviour I'll take some photos....

Ok images didn't post in the right order but I think you'll understand...

    Ideas

    Also voltages measured as follows:

    68 vdc = 66
    -105 vdc = -138
    -115 vdc = -153
    -125 vdc = -155
    5 vdc = 5
    12 vdc =12

You said all voltages checked out, otherwise I would have mentioned potential issues with voltages. Obviously your high voltages are way out of spec and can possibly damage/destroy your DMD. This is not the first time Rottendog display driver boards have exhibited this issue. It was also somewhat common for a while on Data East games.

Jim should be able to help you. It's a design flaw or incorrect components. He will usually swap out the bad components with the correct ones and return the board for you.

Hmm so I have the same issue. I can not get a hold of anyone at rotten dog . I have already replaced the 2 voltage regulators with no change. currently I have an original williams dmd controller in the game and it works fine.

    Any advice would be helpful

    NVM i'm an idiot
