Tech: MB missing a scoop related part

While repairing my MB scoop hole, I notice 3 empty screw holes to the left of the scoop. Looked @ one of HEP's and there is clearly a part installed using these 3 screws.

Looks like a good spot for a protector, but don't know if it's factory or not (or why mine would have been installed and then removed).

Looked in the MB manual and couldn't find the part reference anywhere...

Thanks for any help understanding what's up...

The holes are for a scoop hole protector.Here is a site to purchase one.I highly recommend the drac trac bracket if you don't have it.It keeps the slot from warping.

Pin came with the DT bracket installed, and I purchased the new scoop from mantis.

Really odd that the protector was installed but removed. Since this pin was very well cared for, I imagine a previous owner installed the mantis protector to prevent further damage and later switched over to a cliffy that would protect the hole and cover the damage already done. Mystery explained
