Well my Joy of a new Pin BBH lasted 2 days.

After a game played, balls no longer were ejecting. I quick test and F10 fuse blown....coils and flashers.
Now, I am not smart here at all, and some smart friends stopped by to help...we were stumped.

We visually inspected all coils, lugs and action....nothing found.
We unplugged a few, put in new fuses..still blowing.
We then unplugged all coils at the Z connectors and more...blew the fuse still.
Unplugged J6 and J7, still blowing....
Removed most of the flashers, until it was late, and still blowing fuses...

Any ideas on what to do next?

Any help is greatly appreciated...Id like to think I can solve this....

If you have all things disconnected from the board that involves that fuse and it still blows, you have a board issue. Check the bridge rectifier for F10 first.

If not, the problem is out in the game.

If out in the game I would turn the game off, put in a new fuse, open coin door so high power is off, turn game on. Then go to tests - coils, pull out the high power interlock and step through each coil until you find the bad one and the fuse pops. Then fix/replace the bad one. You can do the same for flashers too.

Youtube a video that shows you how to test a bridge rectifier. Sounds like yours is shorted if the fuse is blowing with all solenoids disconnected.

If the bridge is bad, im guess it is PCB mounted with spade lugs. Don't try and change it unless you have good soldering tools and practice. You will encounter lead free solder and those spade lugs need an iron that can move a lot of heat.

You can probably swap the bbh and csi power boards to verify its on the board.

Thank you Mark, for that help. I do it for Williams, but it never crossed my mind to do it for a Stern...

I feel much better with everyones help...Nothing worse then getting a new toy one cant play with!

As a side note, my wife opposed this game...She is an animal activist, a vegetarian.
I convinced here to play this before it went down...telling her the pinballs were "kissing" the animals...no real animals
were harmed in the making or playing of this game....

I couldnt get her off the game, and she rarely plays pinball.....I have rarely seen her this excited about a pin, but for some reason BBH sucks you in, and its a tough game too!

Thanks Again!

I agree, sounds like a shorted bridge rectifier. Good luck with the fix!

Hey Art,
Was was the issue with F10 blowing,

Well, first it only took a few months...and I learn each time.

Indeed, a Bridge Rectifier, which was a beast to get out, requiring caps to be removed.

....and if someone has a trick to removing the square BR, with the angled lead...please share..

Put everything back, and the Pops, and flippers work! Awesome!

But the Buck wont move! Damn...
So we checked motor, connections, gosh, about another hour...no idea...

Man, I get to play 8 games on it.. am so bummed....
How does this happen?
One minute, I am playing, and the next, its dead...What did I do?
I LED the game, just the night before....did I create a short?

Well, I wake up that night at 4 AM, with the answer....
I go to the settings to find the Buck motor turned off!!!

Somehow, with the BR going out, all the connections pulled and re-seated, the board pulled,
the settings changed on its own!

Relief, and a Face Palm!
