My 5 bank drop targets wouldn't reset, I replaced the entire assembly. New coil and switches were included with the assembly and still no luck......
The coil briefly fires but it doesn't have enough power to reset the targets. I checked the fuses and they were ok. When I run diagnostics it tells me the drop target switches are bad.
I am a novice so I don't know what the next step should be.
Any help would be extremely appreciated!
It sounds like it is telling you the switches are bad but you are saying they are all new correct? Make sure none of the pins inside the connectors are bent over and check the connections again. I doubt this will work but it needs to be checked first.
After that the book needs to come out and check the power on the board for the switch and coil circuit. It almost sounds like two problems. The switches not reading and the weak coil but they are very likely connected.
Yes, the switches are all new and correct. I did check the connectors and everything was as it should be.
One thing I have noticed, while the machine is off, if I manually reset the drop targets to the up position then turn the machine on the coil doesn't attempt to fire. So the switches are definitely working.
As far as checking the power board for the switch and coil circuit, can I locate it from my games manual?
What if the two wires going to the coil were soldered on backwards? Can that be a possible cause?

I know you said you checked connectors, but not sure if you checked the Z connector. I had my 5 bank quit working one time on my Simpsons and simply unplugging and replugging it in cured my issue. The connector is near the 5 bank assembly and is where the main harness splices together to the connector for the 5 bank.

I apologize for the assumption. I figured you bought that one from that guy on ebay. Glad you didn't.. it was a mess.
When I ran diagnostics with the drop targets in the down position it was telling me there were switch errors on the drop targets. Then I put the targets in the up position and diagnostics said all was good, no switch errors.
I know the coil is good since it's my second one and this is my second set of switches.
I am totally stumped......
