Greetings all,

I have a JY machine that was working normally, then one day decided to randomly reboot during play. Troubleshot the problem enough to determine that it's happening when a certain leaf switch is triggered on a standup target in the crane area. When it happens, a sound effect actually plays and then DMD flashes "raindrops" (at least that's what I'm calling it...random diagonal lines evenly spaced across the DMD). Flippers go dead...almost like it's a tilt. Then when ball re-enters the trough, it starts up again. Plays fine until that standup is hit. Any ideas why a leaf switch would cause a game to reboot when it makes contact?

Could be that switch, or others.

Look your switches over. Be sure they are wired right, diode facing the right direction, and nothing is shorting switch wiring.

Gotcha. I recently attempted to replace a different switch, which was unsuccessful (in that after I did it the switch still didn't work). My guess is that the diode on that one is going the wrong way. The problem didn't start until I replaced that switch. Seems like a good place to start at least. Thanks, Llyod!

Start there. Look at it. Williams used a basic wiring scheme. White wire there ( and what ever color stripe ) and with black end of diode. Green wire there. Silver band end of diode there.

Same on every switch, so easy to compare to others.
