Hi.

My Ghostbusters Premium has a very unique flipper issue.

The left flipper will remain in the "cradle up" position when I press the left flipper button.
It will remain there until I hit the right flipper button or if a ball strikes it.

Occasionally, the vibration from the slings and/or the pop bumpers will cause the flipper to return to its normal position.

Every time I hit the right flipper button, the left flipper will return to normal.
Hitting the right flipper buttons works 100% of the time.

I have examined the actual flipper assembly, and there is not any visible mechanical issue. The plunger moves freely and there does not appear to be any issue with the springs or the flipper bat.

I have tested it many different ways.

I have pulled on the spring when pressing the left flipper button, and the flipper still sticks in the up position.
I have verified that the EOS switch is registering in switch test.

I'm thinking it might be a coil issue, but I was wondering if anyone had another possible cause.

Had problem as well — seemed like it had slightly magnetized (coil had locked on at one point and fried the transistor On the node 8 board, not sure if related) the plunger/coilstop when I inspected it vs the right one. Coil dust was magnetized and sticking straight up off the coilstop. Odd issue, but replacement of coilstop and plunger assembly fixed it.

I would start by replacing the coil stop. Stern has had some stops that just don’t last. This is 100% your problem if you see “gold” dust in the cab below the flippers. Replace both at the same time as the other may not be far behind.

The coil stop was the issue! Replacing it solved our problem!

Thanks everyone!
