I switched displays between my Diner and ES, and now the F1 power supply fuse in my Diner blows immediately at power-up. I disconnected all connections to the display, and F1 still blows immediately. Fuses are correct 3/8 amp SB.

Picture shows power supply board with affected fuse removed.

Any ideas?

F1 fuses the score displays.

If it blows with the display disconnected, the high voltage section of the power supply usually needs rebuilt.

Did both displays work before swapping them?

It's important to note that display glasses *can* short, and the ICs on the display board can short, too.

I'm not certain that there is a good way to test the display, other than hooking it back up - and it can fry the high voltage section *again* faster than the fuse can blow!

I gotta ask: Why did you switch the displays?

Also, look for any possible shorts in the wires leading to the displays. Maybe it is possible something is pinched or missing some insulation.

Thanks for the info. Both displays worked prior to the swap, just one missing digit on the display swapped to the Diner.

How does the display that was in the Diner look in the ES?

It works great - it's a replacement PinScore display.

Ahh, it doesn't use the high voltage section of the power supply. Perhaps the HV is toasty on both power supplies?

I was only missing the last digit of player 4 on the display that is now causing the problem. On Diner, this last digit isn't used often; on ES it's used for the "head for the shelter" timer and on displaying the bonus scoring.

If its a pinscore then you shouldn't need the HV section at all, remove both fuses and it will still work, it only needs 5v to work

Thanks for the response - sounds like a great idea. Would a rottendog display work in the same manner? It's $50 cheaper at Mad Amusements...

Yeah I you can find them in stock, I have the RD but most prefer the PS.
I have seen both and for the money I was satisfied with the RD setup.
