If the Mist feature appears to be working it's most likely because you've managed to activate mist multiball several games in a row, preventing the ball from reaching the left mag pocket. Thus, the machine thinks there is an error on the left side. It usually resets itself after awhile. If you get tired of it let the ball make it all the way across from right to left and that should clear the error.
At least, that's been my experience
