My BDK crane was not lined up with the yellow circles that light up on the playfield. So I went into the menu and maxed the delay, now it is exactly on top of the yellow circles when it moves. However the ending/starting position is still off (not on the yellow circle) and it block the lane a tad. How do I fix this problem?

I believe you can adjust the individual positions from that menu. When I used to own BDK I found that menu to be VERY not user friendly on how to adjust those positions. Just play with it some more and you can probably get it spot on.

Are you running the 2.94 software for the machine? It will allow adjustment for each position.

Yes 2.94. You have to be a scientist to navigate the menu but I will try to figure it out. Thanks.

Wait a sec, I think I was in that part of the menu. You can keep pressing the start button and it moves the crane to each circle, yes, but you can only put in one delay and I maxed it which fixed all the other circles (it lands on all of them perfect now) except for the ending/starting position, it is still off?

And I agree and I am no scientist! I don't know that I ever got all of the positions perfect and if one was off I am thinking it was the same one as on your machine. It was nice that the software gave greater adjustment for the positions, but it definitely takes some time to work with it.

There are 2 different type of adjustments there IIRC. They are difficult to decipher.

Please can someone put it in english for me. Why did they make the menu so difficult to understand?

#9 10 years ago

I would be glad to help out but I don't have the game anymore.

The same here, I don't have the machine and this is all I could find in the readme.txt:

Added scarecrow motor test adjustment. Since the scarecrow crane cannot be physically adjusted at all, there is now a series of software adjustments that can be made such that the scarecrow crane ball will appear to be "centered" over the yellow circular inserts on the playfield. Select "ADJUST" from the scarecrow motor test to accomplish this. The settings are saved in battery-backed RAM.

Ok, thank you for helping guys.

It's a fun game. I bought it for something to play while I wait for a LOTR to come up for sale, then I was hoping to incorporate it into a trade for the LOTR. But I like BDK so much now it will never leave, I wouldn't trade it for LOTR anymore.

There are two possible adjustments, corresponding to the ##/## number on the crane adjustment screen.

DSC02902.jpgDSC02902.jpg

The first adjustment ("30" in this photo), which you get to by selecting "ADJ ->", represents the alignment for when the crane is moving to the RIGHT, and is the amount of delay AFTER a positional switch has been triggered - which is why only a positive number is possible (0-50).

The second adjustment ("0" in this photo), accessed by "ADJ <-", represents the alignment for when the crane is moving to the LEFT. Each time you adjust the number and select "TEST", you'll notice that the crane only stops on target positions in the selected direction, then resets back to the far side.

The same delay value is used for all target positions, not each one individually, meaning you'll have to come up with a "best possible" adjustment for each direction that averages out any remaining alignment issues.

That is the best, most descriptive answer anyone could have ever given me. And with pictures too! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

Sunfox great post man thank you very much that was an awesome breakdown. Very helpful to owners that have this problem big thumbs up!

No problem! I do try to help out where I can on the games I own, and I know this adjustment in particular is very non-intuitive since there's never been any official instructions posted on how to use it. But I speak "geek", so it makes sense to me.
