The bowling alley is a enclosed feature with its own ball.
Quoted from pinballslave:I agree that in the video the ball used will definitely allow a split to be left, but how will THIS ball make a strike?
Through the magic of electronic circuitry and software.
You seem to be overly concerned with the bowling mech and in particular, the ball size vs. the pin spread width. Rest assured, strikes will be scored and splits will be possible. If you were lucky enough to have seen DP's test video (which was pulled from YouTube shortly after it was posted by a third party) you'd have seen strikes being scored too easily.
Have faith in DP's ability to create a fun and challenging bowling game. Just, take it easy man.

What you're saying ticks all the boxes in my list of concerns with boxes at the side I was hoping they'd use some electro-wizardry to make it work good, so I hope you're right!! It would make an awesome game even more awesome if the bowling feature worked as close to the real thing as possible!!
Quoted from burningman:just confirmed....The game has 5 balls. 4 on the upper playfield and 1 dedicated to the bowling alley.
ahhh...now we all can rest easy tonight.
So, that means that using something like the custom-painted balls shown before (the ones that got stolen) would be possible for the bowling alley. Those things looked amazing.

That's a mod I'll definitely make when available and if not already included with the game.

I think that was the original plan. I know Geert brought a prototype ball to DPO to try out in the Bowling Alley of TBL. My understanding was the metal return subway/mech was pretty hard on the ball that Geert brought. I believe Geert is still working on perfecting his balls.
My thought is we will probably see regular steel balls in the game as well as in the bowling alley from the factory when the games start to ship.

Maybe they could toss the set of bowling balls in the goody bag and let it be known if you use them they wear quickly. I definitely want a set. I could see a bunch of variations of them.
Quoted from iceman44:Those custom painted balls are a MUST have!
Any updates from Dutch?
Nothing I have heard new...I think they have been full tilt getting BOP 2.0 out.
Yep it is mostly in Dutch but there seminar at DPO can be seen at

Is it safe to go back to this thread and talk about the game yet? I hate using the other thread as I'm a sure if Barry is looking at pinside every time he see's new posts on that thread his heart leaps into his throat Figuring that one is good to stay on refund topic.
I had was going over the the new playfield yesterday, very happy they added some keylining to the fonts on the lower inserts to help them not get so washed out when lit; especially when it looks like those will be solid on once you complete an area of the game (since it says "collect all 6 to light the dude abides").
i guess i hadn't noticed this before but there's a white russian on just about every shot that lights up. Were they active for those that played a prototype? Guessing there's a mode after you complete the white russian that involves maybe shooting a specific shot (or all shots?)
Also, here's a video of the light show again as it's so damn impressive; set to alanis morissette hand in my pocket Side ways shot
Looking forward to the Q2 release! Here is a gameplay vid from Modern Pinball,NYC that I just stumbled upon.

The guy that says he doesn't want to talk about the shit storm is still talking about it for 4 min (hint: jump to 4min mark). Prefer the papa video
It is correct the guys from DP has been working and thinking years on this before they even started on this project.
And you see.... Even with very experienced men on board, a good plan, a good product, you still will ran into unforseen issues and problems.
Think it goes always like this, with any start up of a company.
Lets hope this pin will be out soon, all issues are solved, Phil gets healty, then this will be an epic new addon for the pinworld.

Making pinball machines is haard
Came across a very nice 26:00 min gameplay video from the Arcade hunters which I have not seen before.
So for you also haven't ... here's the share:
Has anyone seen the game since EXPO 2014? I'm curious what Koen added to the rules/software since then....
Here is the Jpop piece where he coined the term the Lebowski effect.
