Box arrived, 4 days from placing order... Quite nice.
Skill shot is much tougher now. It's much closer to roulette now.
As for the number of spins, it's got more variance now. 9-11 where before it was 9-10.

Thank you Twisted Pins!

We now have the Red and Blue ramps in stock as well on www.planetarypinball.com (bayareaamusements.com has them in stock as well).

So has anybody successfully overcome the performance issues with these new ramps and their "properly installed spring steel strap"? I finally shopped my Taxi and installed mine. Best I can get is 50,000 once in a blue moon. On the good side, it hasn't got broken mounting tabs and does look nice. Twisted pins did a fantastic job on the plastic part!

I got one about a month ago... couldn't get more than 3 or 4 spins out of it. After a little Dremel work on the excess glue on the steel flap, she'll spin right up to and over 100,000 regularly.

Not complaining, I'm glad anyone is taking on these hard to get and expensive to make parts. Very happy I bought one! My old one was beat to death and I flat out love that silly fun game.

I installed mine and haven't had problems getting over 100,000. You gotta have the right plunger rod and right spring for sure, and the wireforms have to line up 100%.

Got this part covered. New shooter rod and springs, both barrel and red shooter. I will have to pull it again and tweek it some. Otherwise it is kinda nice to pick up a passenger almost every time I launch a ball. I noticed where the spring steel starts, it could be flatter with the plastic. I will have to try and ramp, or feather that somehow.

Charlie, how hard was it to get the metal piece off? We bought one of these for my dad's machine months ago, but we have been restoring the playfield but have not been able to install it yet. It is going to suck if we only get about 4-5 spins out of it

I found when I owned a taxi that the wire form alignment was the determining factor for max spins.

My new ramp performs so well, that I cannot control getting the 25k. AND it peaks at 100,000 + 10,000, so a full plunge doesn't auto-grab me the 25,000 either. Quite nice.

I didn't take the metal out... it just had some lumps of excess black glue that oozed out the ends. The ball would hit them and drop instead of spin. Dremel tool smoothed them out, works great.

Like I said, I'm happy with it.

I purchased the new spin-out ramp in Blue and love the look. In regards to the play, I had similar issues with the new ramp as with my old ramp, only getting to 50K or 75K on a full plunge. After reading these posts, I played around with the orientation of the plunger, and that was the key for me. After getting the plunger more to the left and lower (in more of a centered position) I can now go all the way through the numbers and back again to 10, 25, and sometimes 50 K.

I was able to get the movement to the left by loosening the screws and re-positioning; to get it lower, I shimmed the shooter housing - see pics. The picture of the housing is a bit disorienting as it is shot from below.

Yeah I was going to post that plunger alignment, and having a new red spring (inner) and barrel spring (outer) make a HUGE difference. I spent hours aligning the wireform, ramp, and novusing the heck out of the spinout. No difference, just an occasional 100k on a monster plunge.

In the end, two new springs, a full plunger rebuild and re-positioning it to hit lower and centered more on the ball is what did it. Nothing to do with the metal strip at all.

Now I go all the way around to 10-25K on a full plunge.

Well installed mine the other day and I'm in the 1-3 spins range. Start with new springs and go from there.
