Hi All,

I began having a reset issue with my Taxi. This would happen during gameplay and also once warmed it would randomly reset in attract mode so I am going to rebuild the power supply as it appears all original from looking at the back of the board. I have reset all connectors and made sure ROMs were secure. I did take some readings prior to removing the board at some test points and the +12 seems far too low.
Here were the readings:
TP1 +5V = 4.92
TP3 +12V = 9.08
TP4 -12V = 14.7

I plan on replacing listed capacitors:
C1 & C3 which are 220uf 160V
C10 which is 18000uf 25V
C8 which is 47uf 63V
C9 which is 1000uf 25V (this one looks suspect)
C7 which is 100uf 25V
C12 which is 330uf 10V
I will also reflow all header pins at J1, J2 and J3....headers and connectors look good (no browning on connectors)

I wanted to ask the group if I am headed down the correct path and if I may be missing something else that should be replaced during this rebuild? Thank you for any assistance.

Unfortunately I am back again.

Changed 15 pin header & female plug, MPU 1J17 pins, C1, C3, C7, C8, C9, C10 & C12

I am getting the same reset when game is in attract mode and it is occurring more frequently. I took a look at pinwiki and found that I needed to check the slam tilt switches. Did that on coin door and the ball roll tilt with no improvement.

Am I missing something obvious or not so obvious?

Quoted from Rikoshay:

What are the voltage readings now on your rebuilt power supply?

Sorry for the delay, I have been dealing with a family issue.

TP1 = 4.92
TP3 = 9.20
TP4 =-14.6

What is odd on this is the readings are basically the same after rebuild. The spare board I placed into the game works fine but when this power supply is placed in the game (after rebuild) I get the pin powered up and it then reboots every ten seconds or so.

Quoted from vec-tor:

System 11 cpu reset circuitry
C30: 22uf 10volt electrolytic axial capacitor.

Question on this....The game plays fine with a backup power supply in it right now, since this is the case would I need to replace C30? I believe the original power supply that was rebuilt is the issue but not sure what else to replace on it as the game only resets with the original power supply.

Quoted from Rikoshay:

what are test point readings on you working spare power supply?

TP1 = 5.1

TP3 = 12.0

TP4 = -14.6
