Williams, 1988Made an offer of $800 to seller who has it at a consignment shop; only have pics because it's out of state. Seller says working, but about a 6 of 10. It was on route, he says works fine, but difficult to tell much from pics. Is this worth it?
I'm totally new to collecting, but wanted the Marilyn Taxi, and figured if it plays okay even if kind of dirty and needs general cleaning, would be good to start learning restoration and repair on.
What do you think? Thanks for ideas/suggestions/advice!
Hard to see condition in pics but looks to be worth $800 easy. The rails are dented from backbox but those can be fixed.
The main thing to be concerned about is the spinout ramp in good working order,Marilyn Translite condition(ask for a pic of the back to see wear),playfield wear,and if it plays 100% and no battery damage on the main mpu board.
Check all ramps, especially the areas where they're screwed down. Years of the catapult tossing the ball onto the ramp usually cause cracks or breaks. The spinout ramp, like bballfan says, is the most important. Usually they're cracked in the funnel part. They're just not available anymore.
The rest is hopefully going to be made available through CPR, playfield, plastics, etc
