As is widely known, the only reason Marilyn was changed over to the red-headed "Lola", is because Williams was served with a Cease and Desist from Marilyn's estate because they hadn't secured the rights to her name. Lola was chosen as a joke because Python drew Marilyn's likeness with a manly upper physique and she was compared to the Kink's song "Lola" which is about a transvestite in a bar. Makes no difference to me how many of each were produced because I'd rather have a Marilyn regardless. As mentioned above all the characters in the backglass are known and relatable, whether real or fictitious. Lola, although known, was a stretch IMO.
Is a Marilyn worth more? I don't believe so, but it depends on how important her likeness is to you. Both games play identically, and are both a lot of fun. I for one didn't pay a premium for my Marilyn and, at the time, didn't even know there were two different versions.
