For the first time in my life I have enough money to buy a pinball machine. I was born in 78 and have a liking for machines from the 80s.

Taxi has always been my favorite!

I've monitored the market for awhile and am in need of some guidance.
1) What is the cost to ship a machine from the east coast to Colorado?
2) Should I just hold out until a machine is available locally?
3) what is the premium one pays for a Marilyn machine?
4) What is a fair price?

Thank you in advance

1) $300-$400
2) Totally up to you. While Taxi isn’t by any means a rare game, finding one that is in great shape is. You could wait, but recognize it may be awhile. You either gotta have time or money!
3) Absolutely 0. Don’t buy into the whole Marilyn vs Lola bs. Lots of Marilyns out there.
4) they seem to avg around $2k these days. Higher for nicer shape.

Good luck!

Totally agree. I believe that Lola is actually more rare. It’s just that Marylin was an actual person people relate more to. Like Santa.

I have found that most people that say this are Lola owners.

Could be. But mine was a Marilyn. Ive never seen a Lola in person. I used to believe that i scored a rare pin.

I prefer the Marilyn over Lola. Cuz i dont know who Lola is. I just don’t think one is worth more than the other anymore. To each there own.

Yep, I agreee I've owned 6 and 5 were Marilyn's and 1 Lola. I think Williams was telling a big fib with their numbers. Seshpilot is right on with his advice. I've never seen a real nice one that hasn't been restored. They were all played hard and didn't wear well. My advice buy the worse (cheapest) one and restore it. Now you can get playfields and all the parts to make a super nice one. Todd Scott

Seems like there are none to be found and then, boom!, a bunch show up.

Pay a little extra, get a nice one. Yes, you can restore a crappy one, but that's time you aren't playing. You want to be playing your first pin!

As is widely known, the only reason Marilyn was changed over to the red-headed "Lola", is because Williams was served with a Cease and Desist from Marilyn's estate because they hadn't secured the rights to her name. Lola was chosen as a joke because Python drew Marilyn's likeness with a manly upper physique and she was compared to the Kink's song "Lola" which is about a transvestite in a bar. Makes no difference to me how many of each were produced because I'd rather have a Marilyn regardless. As mentioned above all the characters in the backglass are known and relatable, whether real or fictitious. Lola, although known, was a stretch IMO.

Is a Marilyn worth more? I don't believe so, but it depends on how important her likeness is to you. Both games play identically, and are both a lot of fun. I for one didn't pay a premium for my Marilyn and, at the time, didn't even know there were two different versions.

GREAT choice in pins. Taxi is arguably the best system 11 ever made. I've owned it twice and it's never leaving. Fun as hell.

I would wait until one pops up around you. Paying 400 bucks to have one sent in, site unseen, is a bit risky. Wait.

I have a Lola in Colorado I’d might be willing to part ways with

Thank you everyone for your input. I feel at home. I'll be patient as I've waited this long.

Does anyone have any info on actual numbers of lolas vs. Marilyns produced?
