I just bought a Taxi & was wondering if the playfield could be touched up or is there some type of decal that could be stuck on the area that has wear (3x & 2x) just above the flippers & between the slingshots. I'm going to try simple green to clean the heavy dirt.... Novus 2... wax. I see 2 of the pop bumper caps are not original... thanks for any help.

There is a decal sheet available with all the insert logo's available. It also includes the entire blue area, but I don't think it includes the green. You'd have to manually touch that up. I think most people install them then clear/mylar over them.

Thanks TOK.. would you happen to know who sells that decal set?

Most Taxis has factory mylar. Try magic eraser with alcohol.

It worked on mine, when I had it.

As for decals this is pretty much it. And there is some for the pop bumpers.

I may have that sheet with most of the decals still on it, I know the inserts you're talking about weren't a problem on my machine.
If I can find it, you can have it. I'll look tonight when I'm done work.

Just curious... I used some Simple Green on the dirty playfield which worked well but I see a spider web type patern in the paint. Can this be removed?

bump... thanks for any tips.

Your playfield looks like it could be cleaned up nicely if you're careful.
I used this stuff and it worked great! You'll be amazed.

Wouldn't treasure cove a bit harsh for a system 11 pf?

#16 8 years ago

Thank you for the tip.

I showed a close up to vid1900 & he suggested just using Naphtha.

And now your T2 has a friend....

I recently used the decals purchased on ebay. The blues in the ink were a lot lighter than the blues on my playfield. Some of the fonts do not match in size. You should remove your factory mylar first and remove the insert decal art before applying. It does look good after its said and done.

Maybe? I'm no expert, and mine had hazy mylar still. Looks great though.

Taxis are generally really very worn. I'd think TC would be just too harsh on that paint, which is probably already flaking or worn to wood in spots.

My taxi playfield is getting the works right now: touchup and clearcoat! Cant wait!!
