Is there someone here in the form that has done a taxi Playfield replacement with a hardtop? I have sanded down the Playfield and placed the new hardtop over it. My question is should I paint drain Lane switches black? It looks like it will show the bare wood when I remove the adhesive backing! Any other tips anyone wants to give me would be helpful. Thank you in advance

Black paint is not necessary. After sanding the original artwork off of the playfield and installing the Hardtop, it will look as it should. The bare wood is supposed to show through. See the attached Before & After pictures for reference.

Perfect, thank you for the quick reply! Would you advise to spray clear coat in that area? Any other tips you could give me would be much appreciated! There's not too much documentation of a hardtop taxi Playfield replacement.

    Vid has a in-depth guide

And in the hardtop thread there were people just posting how they did it. I’ve seen sand clean lay the hardtop up to vids maticulous install.

I'm working on mine as we speak, playfield is 95% stripped so we are getting close to ground zero. I'll be interested to follow yours along as well .

I have stripped, sanded and clear-coated the inserts and shooter Lane. I was ready to install the hardtop but after I removed the surface area protector film and I found that there were some flaws in the paint. I contacted hardtop and were quick to respond. They said that they are sending out a new one... So I am on hold for the moment....
