I'M FINALLY IN THE CLUB BITCHES!!!

My second system 11 game, goes opposite of the Swords of Fury. Been patiently waiting for a decently priced one now for a WHILE. She is ugly as all hell but has a nice ass, I mean cab, and mostly works. Bought from Pindoctor as a complete project, as is condition unknown. Was missing cab head mounting hardware and cab head locking hardware - picked up some comparable replacements at home depot.

Took a while to get the head back on and plug in all the harnesses - luckily they are key'd mostly. Inspected fuses and searched for shorts. Noticed a few fried connectors - expected and I will have to deal with those eventually. Battery holder was removed and replaced with remote terminal - getting a little nervous now that someone may have given up on fixing their mpu - heh. Inside of cab appears to have been cleaned before and it looks like this machine has been serviced many times based off of loose wire and connectors / terminals left in the cab lol. Betson service tags all on the inside of the backbox.

First power on... dreaded adjustment failure. Replaced batteries (which felt full btw but whatever, tossed them) and loaded factory settings and woot - attract mode! Bottom row of scoring display is out so kinda hard to navigate the test menus. Coin door massively hacked - missing coin switches and mech hardware, had to blind set Free Play. Free Play set, game wont start. Assume its complaining about the balls - ball trough not recognizing the balls are loaded. Need to troubleshoot. Manually kicked balls around to finally forced a game start somehow - sounds music solenoids game in general everything is working. OK. GOOD. BAD ASS!~ Gamble Paid Off! A Working Taxi project for $1,150. This game is *never* leaving my collection!

Prevailing Issues that need to be rectified:

- Investigate / troubleshoot bottom row of scoring displays being out. I quickly read this could be an issue on the power board. The other displays are bright and sharp.

- Investigate / troubleshoot ball trough area...

- Poor poor playfield... 70% alcohol and shop rag didn't even put in a dent. May have to carefully magic eraser. I do not want to use an orange degreaser as even on Ms. Pac cabs I noticed it eats the paint. But if I quickly clean with magic eraser and wipe with water it could be fine

Anyone have the paint codes for the playfield, especially the green? anyone have the plastic behind the lola/marilyn pickup target bank?

Paint codes? You interested in automotive base coat ? I have those I can dig up , it's Akzo Nobel product in the Lesonal Basecoat . I made the grey , spent days tinting it as perfect as possible. I have a code in Lesonal in all colors I believe, but did not use green in the restore.
See my taxi restore in posts back in August from me, it may have some codes in the restore thread , can't remember.

So you saw my pre-restore pic, here is my current progress -

made a video with the playfield protector installed. I am done putting money into this taxi! $1200 as is + $250 in xpin/rottendog (can sell the originals to recoup here) $100 in comet $100 for topper $100 misc shit $100 decals and shit $170 playfield protector, becoming an expensive player, but hard to find tbh in good condition regardless of price, cpr pf's gl finding, I am satisfied. Cab is in great shape as is the original trans. Keepin the game anyway. Probably still on the right side of this deal - wasnt happy leaving the pf in the condition it was.

Nemesis, Looks great. Probably a better way to go if you don't have experience with automotive clear coats. Not knowing what your doing when mixing the clear can destroy a pf permanently if mixed wrong. I did mine last fall, but cleared it, didn't even know the pf protector was out there, but would have cleared mine anyways to save the money. It is hard to find a nice taxi, as they get older they will become more difficult to find a super nice one.

Thanks for the encouragement! I wish the decal insert sets were bigger and covered more space like the middle decal does with all the face. Some didnt line up with the font at all like the stop light at the bottom near the gutter. The plastic playfield protector like I said in the video also helps with an older game like Taxi because I can feel some of the inserts - like the green ones for example are sagging just a fraction, others may be slightly raised - so now there is a flat playing surface. It is a multiple quick fix to a shit show and gets you playing fast and easy, protects the surface, muffles ball roll sound, contrasts the art and gives a gloss look. I am a fan. I probably put one on the Swords of Fury too.
