We just got done cleaning up a new to us Taxi picked up about a week or so ago. You can see about our cleanup here:

One thing left to do is to fix the lower row of displays. What's the current consensus on what's best? Rottendog? X-Pin? Pinscore? Any cheaper alternatives out there?
Thanks!
-Paul
Quoted from RonSwanson:Looking good! I've been happy with X-Pin.
Thanks! I looked a little into x-pin, and unfortunately nobody seems to have any in stock.
Quoted from Jmckune:Recbar has Pinscore in everything they own, they look quite nice.
The Pinscore setup is looking better to me as they seem to be the only ones available.
Quoted from mbaumle:I've always resisted LED alphanumeric displays for the sole reason that I hate seeing the lighter non-illuminated segments, but after seeing examples at a few shows last year, x-pin has a grey "gel" that covers them to give them a more original look to the gas plasma displays. If I HAD to go LED, that would be the route I'd take.
This was a concern to me as well. I don't care for the look of them unlit either, but was planning on experimenting using a little window tint to darken them up when not lit.
Has there been any issues with the Jackpot not displaying properly with any of these? I remember reading something about it here some time ago.
Another option I see if that Steve at PBR sells replacement glass for these displays. It's a little steep in price, but still an option as I only have one glass out.
Quoted from Kneissl:I'm running rottendog LED.. Plasma is best for alphanumeric pins IMO.
This is another that seems to be out of stock everywhere. I too love the look of plasma over LED's, but it looks like it's going to be I'll be using only what's available. All of our other sys 9 & 11 games still have their plasma displays, and we're going to try to keep it that way.
Thanks for all your input!

I'm partial to warm white 2smd's on this era game for all of the playfield GI.

The center of the playfield does look a little dark in photos, but it's more of a matter of not setting the exposure correctly on my phone. In person it's not nearly as dark as it looks in the pics.
(I am however going to put incandescent bulbs back in under the 5 characters' inserts.)
Warm white 1smd's in the backbox except I kept incandescent bulbs behind Lola.

Quoted from Scroat:So just picked up a taxi last night.
It’s a Lola backglass, but it has Marilyn in the passenger section, and Lola at the drop targets. Is this common?
[quoted image][quoted image]
That's not common.
Looks like someone put on a sticker for the blue triangular passenger section. Maybe the Marilyn sticker was the only one available.
There's not too many places for the ball to go back there, as there are ball guides there to prevent the ball from going in the corner behind the ramp where the flasher is.
Just probe the area with a magnet, and see what you find. Maybe the ball guide screws came out, and let the ball back there?
