#553 6 years ago

I have not placed it yet when I do it will cover that small black spot there in the center where the hole is.
That is from the sanding and polishing.

#555 6 years ago

Hey HEP, love seeing your amazing work! Can you offer any tips? I need to restore my Taxi Apron as it's pretty scratched up. Without giving away all you secrets, whats your method? Wondering whether it's something I can do myself.

Wash it

Scuff it lightly so as not do more harm but give something for the future finish to bite into.

Clean it again

Clear it

Let it set a couple days

Sand it

Mask the first color you want to fix and then paint that

Mask the next color then spray

Clear it again

How did it turn out?

Not perfect ?

Sand it and perfect it once again then clear once more these pictures are random.

This custom Taxi apron actually inspired me to do another one for my current Medusa project.

All joking aside, thank you very much for documenting your progress on this game. Can't wait for the next HEP restoration thread.

#575 6 years ago

Another HEP Masterpiece!!!!

#576 6 years ago

I can not think of anyone who does a better job than Chris. If I owned this Taxi, I would put theatre ropes around it. Chris I don't know what to say. It's beautiful.

#577 6 years ago

Wow. That is some sweet looking taxi! I'm sad that the latest HEP thread is over though.

#578 6 years ago

Thanks for sharing - stellar work!

#581 6 years ago

So much love and dedication to small and big details - there is only one word: STUNNING!

Love your restoration threads Chris...how about an detailed Elvira restoration next?

#582 6 years ago

I like the fact that the corners are sprayed to blend them and prevent peeling.

#583 6 years ago

Keep working at it Chris and one day you will get the hang of it.

#584 6 years ago

Awesome work Chris !! More importantly ... Whats next ?

Thanks to all for the encouragement .
What’s next?
I am probably too far along on this guy to do much more than post final pics plus I have technically already documented a Medusa here.

Same thing with both these

Pinball Magic?!? Please document this one!!

The completed Taxi presents incredibly. Wow! Awesome is a word way overused these days but... your Taxi restore is truly awesome! And thanks for all the master-level insight on your techniques!

#589 6 years ago

It's the absolute perfection all around, including the pictures taken outside in natural light.

#590 6 years ago

I would vote for full documentation of Pinball Magic. More because I would love to have my own done.

Some day maybe.

Chris

This is also brewing
A WH2O sent in pieces “mid restoration”
This is how that came in.
I hated to move it to the front of the line but when something is in this many pieces and this disorganized you really have to address it ASAP because of the space it commands and uncertainty of all parts being in hand.

Excellent, W2HO. I'd love to see a thread on this PM and especially EATPM.

I am pretty sure he said in one of his previous threads, "he has a guy". This guy is a carpenter whiz who excels at building the cabinets.

Wish I knew who it was, N.C. is not to far a drive.

That's good to know. If I ever want to avoid the 2 year wait to have you work your magic on a game, I'll take it completely apart before sending it.
Do you charge more when this happens? As in "it's $100 to fix, and $200 if you've already tried to fix it yourself"?

#598 6 years ago

just wondering, is there just a flat rate on having you do a game, since you go into such detail on every game? or do different games bring different costs?
