I have a customer asking about this, but I don't have a Stern Star Trek to investigate for myself. (They want to have a mod that illuminates when the Nero light is on).

My understanding is that the Nero insert (in the triangle grid of modes) is driven by a surface mounted board that contains LEDs for a few different inserts. It seems like Star Trek uses a series of boards and isn't doing matrixed inserts like in the past.

Would there be an easy way to tap into this that doesn't involve soldering to the board? Could you splice into certain wires leading to this board?

I am not sure about tapping in. What sort of voltages would this need? There is a splitter that PBL has that I have for my mods.
Here is a pic don’t know if it helps much.

Thanks for the pic. Would need 5 or 6 volts. It's easy to get that from GI sockets, but the idea for this would be to only light it in sync with the Nero insert.
