Im sharing progress of my actual project, it is arabian nights pinball machine restoration. Machine was used for years mostly in pubs with no proper service, so it ends up pretty beaten. Arabian nights are magnificent pinball machines. After its hard life, definetly deserve complete rebuild to shiny mint condition for pinball collectors.

Was it in the bar that whole time with no glass?

Looking great so far though - congrats. An absolutely great table. Thread favorited.

have never seen one so bad ! id love to redecal mine as well.

#7 9 years ago

thank you, cabinet it self was very time consuming, im doing all the work alone. Both glasses was crashed dont know when exacly. Playfield was dusty but not in bad shape. I send it to germany for small repairs and clear coating. Apron looks ok after galvanizing, im loking just for stickers.

Here is link to PDF "fuse list". I recomend laminate it from both side. Not original, but fresh forever...

As an owner of a mint condition TOTAN, I got a small heart attack when I saw the first few pictures... You did a good job on the cabinet, hope the playfield turned out the same.

#12 9 years ago

And that is just pinball sexy

#13 9 years ago

looks fantastic so far. great job!!

#14 9 years ago

Fantastic, thanks for sharing the pictures!

#15 9 years ago

Those first few photos made my heart hurt. The restoration looks beautiful!

#16 9 years ago

Really nice work. So, I've been reading up on a few of these restoration threads. I have not seen how the artwork is removed. It appears that people just sand it off or do you use some kind of stripper to remove it? I'm used to working on arcade machines and usually you have to use a heat gun or stripper to take off the artwork. But from what I've seen here it sands right off. Is this correct? I will be restoring my first pinball machine soon. Figured I would do some homework.

Thank you. I use heat gun first for removing artwork off the cabinet. Sander is good for second step, removing sticky white stuff from original foil.

Looks like it came out of a barn - not a bar! You are doing amazing work with it. What was your technique on getting the edges of the decals so nice?

#19 9 years ago

Progress on playfield so far, hopefully machine will be ready for test run next week...

wow. much respect!

#21 9 years ago

decal placement was as everything else very timeconsuming, it is the same procedure as placing big advertising sticker on car. first measuring, then from one side to the other, carefully pushing & pulling back of the sticker out.

#22 9 years ago

im little puzzled by the plastic set, 3pieces still remaining, i have no idea where belong to...

So did you cut the decals before you placed them on the cabinet or did you trim them after placement? Just wondering how you got the edges so perfect.

Wow, great restore! Amazing difference from before and after. I believe those parts are all keychain promos, I remember the bottle and tiger in my goody bag but don't recall the sword. It wasn't on the playfield though.

2 of them look like keychain fobs. Not sure about the dagger one though.

i cut the decals after placement.

#27 9 years ago

So here is a picture from another thread of a dagger plastic. but it doesn't look the same.

I kinda like the Mystic look on the Apron, it looks funky unpainted, maybe clear coat it so it doesnt rust and leave it like that

#42 9 years ago

clear coat for apron is not necessary, rust or oxidation doesnt have a chance, surface was yellow galvanized as the rest of brackets and steel parts. It will look even beter with original stickers...
