This one was a real mess when I got it. Was one that probably should have been parted out and dumped but I just couldn't do it. I have a lot in this one, but man it is cool! I have attached a ton of pictures for everyone to look at. This is my first go at a pin restore. Have done several arcade games. I wish I had more pics of the sides, they were as bad as the front. There are some before and after pics here (After followed by before, reversed order when I made the post). The before are as I tore it down so you can see all the pics I took to figure out how to get it back together. You can get a good idea how dirty and bad this thing was. Every lightbulb was burnt out, zero maintenance done, all rubber cracked and destroyed, terrible cabinet damage. After I got all the crap off the play field it was perfect. No damage at all. Not sure how long I will keep this but it will make someone a nice collectors piece now. Thanks a lot for all the help with my questions. Also, I found a formula to mix a sherwin williams paint that matches the side paint very closely, which I know has been a challenge. All art original, repaired by hand to take care of damage. Also, note the Modfather electric chair mod. I also added the wolf and used the tree over the flasher next to him. Looks super cool when it goes off. Finally, added the Metallica side blades which are super cool. LEDs all around and a Cliffy to protect the field. I need to find a better translate, You can still see a little bit of the damage that was on the top back box, I may polish that off a bit better. Other than that it looks perfect.

A lot of work but the result was worth it. Well done.

Nice job! A great game. Make sure you get version 4.00 in there if you haven't already.

#5 8 years ago

What is the benefit of 4.0, and where can I get it. Will do a google search as well...

Read up on it here:

John Wart can burn them to new chips cheaply for you to install; very easy.

Just email John your request.

If you like the updated code, consider donating some $ to ChadH.

Looks great...I sent them an email. Also been looking into the battery free NVRAM chip. Any thoughts on that? Just ordered new EOS switches for the flippers, and a couple other parts to take care of some intermittent issues I have been having. I need to look at the coils on the bottom bumpers, they seem a little flat to me but I'm not sure yet. Just cleaning up a few lagging details.

Excellent job on the restore, you saved a great game from the landfill. 10,000 karma points for you.

#9 8 years ago

Going to have to look into getting the Metallica side blades for mine too! Thanks for the idea!

#10 8 years ago

Also thinking of scanning panels from different TFTC and other EC horror comics and having them printed on vinyl to place on blades... The new hardback collections (from Dark Horse) are nice and glossy and should work well for that.

#12 8 years ago

C5 send me pics of the blades you make...would love to see that....

#13 8 years ago

It's a resolution for 2016 . We'll see when I get around to it, but yes to posting them! May just go with Metallica for now though because they look real nice too.

#14 8 years ago

I'll try to take some better pics of the Metallica blades and post today. They match the theme perfectly. What is cool is they connect seemlessly with the Lightning theme on the back plastics.

#15 8 years ago

I agree. I looked them up and will probably order a set once I figure out how much $$$ I have left post holidays.

Those NVRAM upgrades are a no-brainer for DE games. The chip is already socketed so it's a 5 minute change. I got mine from Borygard.

Awesome machine and show. One of Data East's best games.

#18 8 years ago

Russ do I just message him here on Pinside to get one from him?

Here are a few more pics with less glare and more detail of finished pin

My favorite thing honestly is the tree over the flasher by the wolf. Came out of a set and fit perfect with very little modification. Looks awesome when that thing fires.

You can order from his website:

http://lockwhenlit.com/anyPin.htm

Tell him it's for a DE TFTC and you can save some money by getting a 6116/6264-only version.

It's easy to change out, but make absolutely sure the orientation is correct or it will be damaged on first power-up.
