Just realized there's a Jeep club! We have a 94 Jeep Wrangler Sahara that's been sitting dormant for the last two years. Hardtop, with a bikini top. Rust through on the floor boards and some of the fenders. Power steering starting leaking is why it was parked. Now its probably a complete restore or parts Jeep due to rust, which is a shame, as i did brake lines and new fuel lines and sending unit at one point. Was thinking of putting diamond platting on it and repainting it as a Jurrassic Park Jeep for my son. But seeing as he's not even two, the likelihood of him being interested in Jurrassic Park is slim, as I'm sure there will be a cooler series out about something when he's impressionable!

In anycase, if anyone is interested in a project/parts Jeep let me know. Cash or a pinball machine is acceptable as payment.

Edit: Jeep is in WI, near Milwaukee.

Didn't like how the suspension was set up by the previous owner with springs over axles. Did a lot of work rewelding spring perches, redoing brake lines and driveshafts to get the axles over the springs. It's back down to the original height and it looks much better. I can officially call this project done! Higher and lower pictures included for comparison.

I just picked up a Jeep Compass last month. I know it isn't one of the cool jeeps, but can I still hang with the Jeep club?

I've had 4 wranglers and at least 6 XJ Cherokees in the past ranging from stock to 6" lifted V8 swapped monsters. I love the off road hobby but 7 or 8 years ago I discovered pinball and that consumed most of my extra money. I'm at capacity for pins now and that extra money was starting to burn a hole in my pocket. I don't think that will be a problem anymore since I picked up this 14 Sahara 6 speed manual with only 33000 miles on Monday. Really wanted a Rubicon but couldn't find one at a reasonable price with out a shit load of miles. I forgot about this thread but it just popped up great to see so many nice Jeeps in the pinball community.

That's a nice empty canvass on which you can paint. Building the Jeep to your specs is half the fun of the hobby.

Just another example of why it's best to not buy the first year of a new platform.

Just saw this thread.... Is this for real?
I have a 2018 JL Rubicon; were they exempt from the recall or is my dealership avoiding contacting me? How would I even know if my JL is supposed to be recalled?

Just picked this up last week. 2013 with 18k miles. Loving is so far.

Hairy moment on the trail yesterday with a guy in our group. Driver error for sure, as he let his driver side tire get on the wall on the left. He has a manual trans and felt like he was going to stall so he gave it more skinny pedal and it shot him up like that. The guys behind him thought he was going over backwards for sure. His rear spare tire saved him as it dug into the ground.

Just a local trail in San Bernardino County near Lake Silverwood called 2N17X. It's considered an intermediate trail, with some very steep hill climbs and some really rutted out sections which are worse now because of all the rain we've had this season.

#421 4 years ago

I bought a '19 JL Moab edition in January. Hoping to get the soft top on real soon.
Had jeeps in the late 70s early 80s. Now hoping to get back into it

Saw the high rivers in IN as I picked up my daughter from Purdue on Fri. Wow. Hope everyone is safe.
Then she promptly helped me take the hard top off and put the soft top on yesterday

I guess I might as well add my name to the list, however I drive the "city" version, so nothing too serious for offroad. lol

Here are some pictures of our old '14 WK2 Overland on a trip to the mountains a few years back. Have a new High Altitude now, but no real adventures (yet).

Note: suspension is all the way down in both pictures with them parked so they look low (both have the quadra lift).

My 07’ JK. Sadly in 2016 it got pelted with softball size hail. It’s still my daily driver to this day.

One of my kids has this one, picture taken post leveling kit install.
He wants to ditch the rear spare and mount due to rattle, thoughts?

#432 4 years ago

Without knowing much about your situation, I think you should find out what's rattling. Maybe tighten it up. Kind of like a pinball. If adjusted properly, things shouldn't rattle.

Check the jack and tools near the tailgate. Its likely what's rattling and not the spare.

Just joined the club - so awesome there's a Pinball Jeep Club here. I am wondering if you can actually get a pin in the back of this, and if so how (Safely) since I don't have any other kind of pin hauler??

Maybe if you move the front passenger seat all the way forward or take that seat out. Jeeps are so easy to take apart.

#436 4 years ago

Also may depend on what game. An em or early ss may fit if you rest it on passenger seat. Might be difficult to fit in a dmd game? Do you have a trailer hitch? If so, maybe get one of the carriers that goes into the hitch that people put stuff to haul extra stuff. Think they can handle 400 lbs. I've thought about this, but haven't had the need yet.

#437 4 years ago

Leaving the club. (temporarily)

This was what I had, (and it was 4 doors).
I have always been partial to the (2) door wranglers. I just never cared for the 4 door wrangler with the top and doors removed look.. (that's just me).
Nothing against 4 doors..it's what I had... maybe I will buy in a p/u version.

I'm now looking into the Jeep p/u truck..2020 Jeep Gladiator, AKA Wrangler Pickup or maybe a 2019 version.
Any comments from anybody who may purchased one of these?
I also may consider a ZR2 diesel.

I currently own a 2017 4 dr wrangler, held on to my 2 dr for 10 years hoping the pickup would launch but never did. I just recently looked into them, knowing that I would never purchase a first year production model, but just curious. They are smaller then I expected, only available in 4 dr versions, MSRP is expensive and they are changing a $5000 premium on models since they have a limited production run. My goal is to keep mine for another 5 years, let all the bugs on the pickup get worked out and then reassess.

Good luck

#439 4 years ago

For my wrangler. I waited for 2nd model year and got a 2019. Glad I waited. I think they start 2020 Gladiator production in July. May as well order one and get what you want.

#440 4 years ago

I rented a 4dr JL Sahara to pick up a pin in NY (about 800kms round trip) and was really impressed by it (my wife liked it too!).

I've wanted a wrangler for quite some time but couldn't justify its fuel costs for a daily driver. Now I'm just waiting for the PHEV that's supposed to be coming out for 2020. I'm installing a car charger in my new garage in anticipation of it. Will probably trade in my '16 GTI for it, leaving my '07 Miata as my fun car. Can't go wrong with 2 topless cars!

#441 4 years ago

Well. They now offer a 2.0 turbo engine that gets 25 mph in the 2019+ wranglers.

The 2.0 turbo is nice... My 3.0L diesel pickup still gets better MPG tho. Cannot wait to test drive a 3.0L Wrangler!!!

#443 4 years ago

But with the 2.0, you're supposed to use premium. Which of course off sets some of the advantages.

Yes, 3.0 diesel could be fun.

#444 4 years ago

Glad I found this thread, I am just getting hooked again on pinball, haven’t played since I was a kid until a few months ago.

But I have been wasting money on Jeeps for a while! This is my most recent, they are a ton a fun as long as you Just Empty Every Pocket.

I think premium is recommended. I use 87 octane. It is a $0.40ish per gallon bump to premium.

#446 4 years ago

I'm paying ~$1.50/L for premium which is about $5.67/gallon CDN (~$4.22 USD).

The GTI is returning around 26-28mpg right now so I guess it's comparable. But my commute to work is under 20kms each way, so a short range plug in would be ideal. I've already sold my wife on the idea. She just wants an electric car. I think a Jeep plug in would be a great compromise

Update, he removed the spare and rattle is gone. He has now purchased a spare mount removal kit, and a hi-lift jack. Am I the only one who sees something wrong here?

#448 4 years ago

He’s better off purchasing an after market rear bumper with a spare swing mount. Much sturdier and will b able to support the weight of the aftermarket rims and tires. The factory plastic is just not sufficient when added weight is applied.
