I just picked up a TAF,it came with a NOS populated playfield.
Never been installed,it has corrosion on the metal parts on the backside.
Will these clean up,or do I need to replate them.

I was going to CC the playfield before I install it.
So everything is coming off anyway.
I took a couple of pieces off to see how much they can be cleaned up.

That'll all clean, try tumbling the part and worst case can be replated what you can't clean up.

#3 9 years ago

Thanks,that's what I'm hoping for.
Friend of mine is going to tumble a few parts and see how they turn out.
Also going to use an ultrasonic cleaner on the parts.

#4 9 years ago

That's probably the NOS populated playfield I should have bought 2 years ago. I thought about it a day too long. Anyway congrats it's a nice rare piece.

#5 9 years ago

Yep,it's the same one.
I tried to buy it then and missed it.
Worked out,I didn't have a TAF for it at the time.
This came with a fully functioning game, and a ton of new parts.

#6 9 years ago

If they don't clean up ether re plate the parts or go new ,enjoy looks good

#7 9 years ago

Will do William
Hurry up on MM,and get started on SS lol

#8 9 years ago

Ok Dan MM is almost there ,I really can't wait

#10 9 years ago

Would a bead blaster ruin the metal parts.
I could do that first then tumble them in the cleaner.
I'm just not sure if there is a finish on the parts that might come off.

#11 9 years ago

I wouldn't recommend bead blasting.

#12 9 years ago

If you bead blast it will put a matte finish in the parts. I would only bead blast parts you plain on painting.

#13 9 years ago

Thanks guys,I'll stay away from that then

#14 9 years ago

Bugger, I called that guy the night you picked it up, I wanted it

#15 9 years ago

It came with a bunch of new parts as well.
Cabinet decals, legs, complete plastic set and spares.
ColorDMD,target decals,full led kit,TV mod,coin door.
Lit up flipper buttons,speaker panel.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the playfield that's in it.
I'm also on the list for CPR TAF playfield.
Might swap everything on that one to.

I started the tear down yesterday with a few friends.
Thanks Zane,and Trevor

Playfield is stripped ready for CC,and the backbox is mostly stripped on the donor game.
Just waiting on Stretch7 for cabinet testing
I'm going to use one of his new cabinets for this one.
Thanks Gilles.
Might get two and do two TAF's at once.
