In the lamp test, I see that the *THING* lamps only light up when other lamps light up. For example when Lamp 72 (Right Special) lights up also Lamp 82 (Thing T) lights up, but there is no light when Lamp 82 (Thing T) should light up.

According to the diagram Right Special belongs to column 7 at J137-7 but there is nothing connected to J137 on my machine.
Thing T belongs to J138-9 but there is some bad soldered cable in there which I tried to follow but cannot find where it connects to.
The Yellow-gray cable from the *THING* board goes to J136-2?????

Can I just cut the bad soldered cable and move the cable from J136-2 to there without damaging something?

Start with J136.
Pull wire from J136-2 and install it 1 postition to the left at J136-3.

Did that solve the puzzle ?

That wire should be where ZAZA said. Move it to the last pin on the left of J136.

Quoted from zaza:

Did that solve the puzzle ?

It works, thanks!!!!! In all the all those years it never worked, finally!

I just used a small screwdriver to push the wire in, but probably there is a special tool for this, what is that tool called?

Looking at the traces I start to understand why this works, J138 is just one-on-one connected to J137, also J136-9 is connected to 137-9 and 138-9, strange, is there any reason for this duplication?

You should rebuild that connector with crimped trifurcon pins in a new housing. That connector looks really thrashed.
