Quoted from schudel5:

Nope. It takes a while to activate. It is always learning after it activates by which of the orange swamp targets it hits.

Did a factory reset on mine right before I took it to PAGG back in May. I played 8 games on it to get the Thing Flips somewhat dialed in so people don't hate my game. Thing Flips started flipping(and missing) from game 1. I can't think of a good reason, programming-wise, why, if the Thing Flips feature is enabled, you wouldn't want it to start the learning process from the very first activation. I don't see how it could learn anything without results. Waiting 20 games, or even 20 balls, makes no sense to me for a "learning program".

if your's does that, and nothing's wrong with it, I wonder if that's something tied to a specific rom revision?

Quoted from schudel5:

I have a Gold version game and software. I went out and reset thing flips data using U12. It doesn't flip after it's reset so that's confirmed. Ok it wasn't 20 games, but it did start on the second game after about 10 balls went down the Lite Thing Flips lane and then shot up the bear ramp. MB does the same thing for Phantom Flip which never makes the shots so I turned that one off.

Gotta be code specific to the gold roms, then. Very interesting. I wonder if it's a set number of balls that need to go through, or games played that need to happen before it enables the rest of the code to activate the flipper. I'm really curious as to what it's sampling and what information it's collecting before said activation.

Then again, I wonder if it's just a bug in the code.

Quoted from PinballManiac40:

I would clean the optos with a glass cleaner.

Might be safer just to use some 93% or higher isopropyl alcohol. Most glass cleaners and lower percentage "rubbing" alcohols can leave a film on whatever you're cleaning if not wiped properly.
