Hello All!

I'm trying to help someone with The Addams Family pin. The last problem I'm having trouble tracking down after swapping the MPU, Driver board and Flipper board, both lower flippers energize AFTER the MPU finishes booting, not on power on. Has anyone ever seen this in a WPC89 pin?

Connectors in right spots and facing the right direction ?

Hi LTG,

Yes, the connectors are installed properly in the correct locations. I believe if this were the problem the flippers would energize immediately on power on.

Thanks!

I'd unplug the connectors for the flipper button switches. Then try it. Start eliminating things. Out in the game problem ? Board problem ?

Removing J902 prevents the flippers from energizing and the game boots normally. Removing all the other connectors from the flipper board does not prevent the flippers from energizing.

If someone swapped coils or done other things - I have seen a reversed coil do this before. I had a bad wired plug on a hacked up machine - misplaced wires.

But, if it worked before then all of a sudden didn't work when you swapped the MPU sounds like a wrong plug placed somewhere.

Unfortunately, the owner was installing mods, LED lighting and I think was messing under the playfield which started the problem. He has virtually no technical skills and can't explain what he did. He did swap out all the ribbon cables trying to resolve a display issue and installed the ribbon cable off by a set of pins, but I have since swapped the MPU.
