I've owned my TAF for a long while without having this ussue, have an offboard battery holder, and use high-quality batteries in it. I also make a point to change them on a regular basis (every year or two). The point being, I shouldn't be having this problem. A few months back I got the dreaded factory reset message when I turned the game on. Chalked it up to weak batteries, replaced them (they were still good), and reconfigured the game settings. So far so good. Today I had that happen again. Full disclosure, I haven't been playing it alot lately. These batteries are nearly new. Any restrictions on what batteries to use? These are Energizer Ultimate Lithium. I have a spare offboard battery holder that I will also try. Any ideas on what else I should check/test? Thanks in advance.

Check the isolation diodes D1 and D2. I don't know what you're using for an "offboard battery holder" but make sure the connections on it are good as well as its connection to the MPU. I had this one come through a while back that had this really flakey battery extender. The concept is good to get the batteries away from the board but this connected to the MPU with dummy batteries that plugged into an already corroded onboard battery pack.

Turned out that the battery extender had a frayed wire that provided an intermittent connection.
I fixed that weak connection on the extender and it works just fine now. Thanks!
