So the T3 I purchased yesterday has run into a snag. While playing the launcher stopped working and I recieved the following message:

Operator Alert!
#2 Auto Launch
Coil Malfunction

Any assistance attempting to fix this without calling in a repair guy would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Lift your playfield and get your multimeter out. Set it to 200V DC voltage. Take your probes, put one on the braided ground strap running through the inside cabinet of the pin. Take the other and place it on either of the coil lugs. You should be getting near 70V.

Also, set your DMM to 20 ohms resistance. Put each of your probes on the lugs, 1 probe on 1 lug each. You should be getting I believe anywhere from 2 ohms to 15 ohms. If you are getting zero, you have a broken coil wire somewhere in the coil. Sometimes you may get lucky and it is just a broken wire right at the end; other times you may have to get a new coil.

Let us know what the results of these two tests are.

T3 has a known problem where a wire to the auto plunger shorts out. Stern has a technical bulletin and a recommended fix for it - you can check it out on the Stern website.

I encountered this same thing last year. See this thread:

I believe I have discovered the problem?
