New to the owners group, but always love to grab these games and then find out how wildly underrated they are (esp when so late to the party as I am)

Amazing game overall.

One question I am having is with regard to mods and so forth. I get the feeling mine has had a fair amount done. Hoping one of you who have more history on this game would not mind enlightening me.

My observations so far:
Volume knob behind the left speaker. Not sure why this is here, since the game has its own volume in menu. Are the front speakers upgraded as well? Definitely looks like a sub upgrade.

LED lighting for the most part (maybe some extra pillar lights by slings?)

Ball drain area extra lighting, and right side. There are a couple more strips kind of hanging under the playfield. Was wondering where the recommended locations are to mount these? is there a good place on the left side of the PF?

Has NVRam upgrade.

Has stickers on all of the standup targets.

Looks like I am missing T-molding on the head as well? any recommendations?

Anyone notice anything else from pics or have ideas about placement for LED strips?

Thank you!

If anyone wants a copy of my alternate translite, send me a PM (I've got a couple extra printed out).

Please note though... these are printed as a single sheet only. So essentially you will need to cut out the RPG insert by yourself, and make the cuts as clean as you can so that you can use the inner part in the RPG area itself. You will also have to cut out the inserts.

I'd sell them for $70 including shipping to the US and Canada.

Welcome to the club. My bb molding is all black and I don't have that volume knob in the bb which is most likely a hack.

#205 4 years ago

volume knob is not a hack... wtf hehe. Upgraded speakers/subwoofer came with it. FlipperFidelity kit was like that a few years ago. I had one in the old DM.
What you have may be a diy kit, since I dont see the logos on speakers/sub.

Here is the FF kit https://flipperfidelity.com/sound/stern-speaker-systems.html

Hmmmmm never knew that. How many have done the Service Bulletin upgrade for the gun shooter coil? I fried my transistor because the diode blew and locked the coil on and fried the transistor. The fix was to to put an extra diode on it.

Speaking of that, mine has the nice Marco harness, where have you mounted it? The previous owner mounted this one under the hole used by the wire guide by the center drain. This pushed the wire guide up, which I banged down and then pushed the diode clip out.. lol

Ahh, yeah that might be it. Figured the audio was upgraded because it sounds and feels really good, and I've noticed some people complain about the sound for the game. Any idea about the lighting? I've seen quite a few where they have the lighting on the left and right rear of the PF, was wondering where this is mounted for the right side typically?

Thank you-

Can't remember where my tech put it. Hmmm don't know what you mean by lighting on the felt or right. But what does look cool is put a blue led strip on the back side of the left ramp and put a red clear dome bulb in the spot light right above it. Those chrome pieces there look way cool then.

Ok thanks, I'll just try sticking it under the left ramp as it is with the right. (I noticed that someone had taken this off, but I have the strip dropped below the playfield. Looks like they stapled another strip under the machine.

Thanks for the help, lighting is so good, it is the only pin where I feel like I have 100% visibility in a dark room.. in fact, light kind of throws me off with it because of glare.

Fun game, curious what sort of tilt/angle people who are keeping it are using? Mine seems pretty tough with the current set up, finished it once, but will kick my a$$ most of the time.

Hello club members, I was curious if anyone else has this issue with the mode selection on the 3rd ball.

Basically, I find that right after draining the second ball, depending on what is going on, the machine will typically display something like the replay target etc. If I select a mode during this, or just quickly pull the trigger, it skips the mode. Just curious if that is a known defect, or if it might be related to something else.

Thank you-

Hi Guys!

I am a new T3 owner. I bought the machine about 3 weeks ago. The machine was in very good condition but I changed/ upgraded some things.
- New Legs/Bolts/Silicone Leg Leveler
- Mirrors side blades
- New Brite Illuminated Flipper Button set
- Black Button-Guard Side Rails For Stern
- Cleaned the cabinet with Crown Spray Power Cleaner
- Nem T3 ( Skynet) topper
- Stern bubble level ( original was lost )
- Original manual ( and T3 keychain

The Previous Owner changed the DMD screen, speaker decal etc... and the bulbs but not all....
My questions is these:
- Where can I buy small size #555 6,3V bulbs what is fitting in the machine ( the Comet is to large )
- Where can I buy small size #89 6,3V bulbs waht is fitting in the machine
- Where can I buy small size #905 6,3V bulbs waht is fitting in the machine

If you upgraded the T3 machine with LED pleas write me.

When is the pinball is complete I uploaded pictures.

Thanks.

Welcome to the club. get the thin style of mirrors, I think I bought mine from PBL I replaced all my 6.3 bulbs with Comet white 2 smd clear dome, not a problem. You'll have to dig deep with your dmm to find the problem with those sockets.

In these 4 LED bulbs there is only 3,5V ( not 6V )
That's why weak the lights power
What can i do?

Thanks

The sockets are probably bad. You can try and clean the inside of them and squeeze the outside a little to make better contact. But it will probably keep acting up. I would just replace them.

Did you measure that from the contacts on the socket or from the inside of the socket?

Hi,
I cleaned but the problem is same. Need I replace the all 4 socket? These 4 bulbs are in one line. Why is only 3.5V everywhere? Is the new socket will be help?

Thanks.

I measure the contacts on the socket. Not from inside of the socket. But I check again.

Ok I have a biggest problem. I just moved a little bit the cables and I checked sockets and just started the RPG mode....I turned off the machine. And now the 4 bulbs are working but the others not!!! If I start the RPG mode the all bulbs are lighting a little bit ( but the 4 bulbs full lighting ofcourse ) What is the problem? The relay? The cables? Or what?

Thanks.

Sounding more like a connector issue. Check the connectors and also make sure you have no cold solder joints.

#222 4 years ago

Anybody have an extra plastic for the lower part of RPG? Just noticed mine is broken, figured I would ask if anyone wanted to trade or sell me one if they had an extra. (I know I can get a plastic set still, just can't see forking over for a set, when all the other plastics are perfect)

Thanks!

Must be a common thing. Mine is broken as well. Only piece that is broken on the pin.

I connect the harness to the 12 V plug below the right flipper button. Its working but I also use this for lighting buttons. Can I connected on the board? Or I need a 12v power splitter? ( link?)

The other problem: If I connected the topper there is a loud noise (Buzz) from the speaker. (???)

Thanks

Finally a found the problem! The bulbs does not working because the plug is broken. Do somebody know what is the exact name of this and where can I buy? I think the socket is good.

Thanks!

No, never had any issue with the sound. Never heard of any symptom like that either.

Looks nice great work. See you have the same speaker box decal as myself - I’ve been working on a custom one the last month to try & incorporate more color to match the translite.

Finally received the Custom Decal I had designed for my T3. Turned out pretty good but didn’t realise till I put the panel back in that the bottom row of text isn’t fully visible but apart from that I think the colours & gloss blends quite well with the translite.

Oh man that's great. My white Leg Lights would match the white lit flipper button perfectly.

Hello club, Gameplay question.

I'm on A4.00 ROM, which seems to be the latest, so would it be a correct assumption that this code was never 100%?

Specifically, the following mysery modes I see with about the expected frequency:

Award Escape, Award Weapon, Big Points, Bonus X, Video Mode, Special, Command Center, Play RPG, Extra Ball, Hurry Up, Special, Special Lit, Light RPG, Light Kickback, Multiball, Red, Security Level

However the following appear, but I have never actually had them selected:

Add Bullet Holes, Add Grenades

In addition, on the playfield, there is a right orbit hurry up, however this is never_ lit, it is always the left Hurry up orbit that is the only one which will trigger this.

As others have mentioned, there are also the odd software bugs that I have seen (such as starting a game right before the last ball is detected in the trough, will start the game while in attract... pre selecting the 3rd ball and launching while the replay number is displayed will skip your skill shot selection. Sometimes some odd behaviour if you trigger the TX mode from an unexpected location, or a ball slow to drop in... anything else people have noticed?

General question, was it factory to have a strip of mylar under the TX shooter to protect the playfield. I think it's great to protect it, but it is frustrating as it will often affect the ball as it exits the lock lane. Just curious. (Attached photo, mylar is nice and flat, although it looks odd in the photo, it's just a reflection.)

Thank you-

New member here. My machine is still in the US. It will ship to New Zealand in the next few weeks. I am planning to buy some LED from comet LEDs. So far I am not sure what I need but I am sure all the club members here will give me some good advice in the nearest future

I was lucky enough to purchase mine with LEDs already installed. I would suggest buying one of the preset kits for the game. You pay a bit more, but it would likely be cheaper in the long run unless you are buying to have lots of excess bulbs here and there for other machines. Def consider a colour DMD as well. The game is phenominal, and LEDs are def a must-have upgrade as they suit the theme so well.

Hi Koji
Thank you. I saw your T3’s pictures. It looks fantastic. I really like your back glass, especially at the T-X image, it has the blue colour at the back but still has the metal look at the same time. Plus the word “terminator” has the light blue effect (I think). In general, I would like to have the same look as your T3.

If possible, can you let me know what colour of LEDs bulbs you used behind the backglass? Perhaps if u could remove the glass and take a picture of the backboard that would be great.

Thank you in advance
Pinrookie

Sure here you go,

Looks like clear white in the back. Frosted white on the front.

Thanks-

Welcome to the club. When you get your game make sure the underside of the inserts are clean and use 2 smd clear dome white in all the inserts. The insert lettering will be easy to read and the inserts will sparkle like a new Stern. Frosted clear dome 2 smd bulbs under all topside plastics also. You don't want to color bomb the great art of the plastics or pf.

Thank you. I just placed my order. Hopefully I can post a few pictures here in the next few weeks! This is my 1st Steve Ritchie designed pinball machine. I am super excited.

Wow.. sorry not sure about the install (looks like a pop-rivet, so you might need to remove and re-rivet (or maybe a small screw and nut to make future repairs easier?) , so it might be a trickier one , but wondering if you could share where you purchased this? Mine is broken somehow . thanks-
