T2 Scoop Adjustment

What is the correct way to adjust the left scoop? The ball keeps hitting the stopper and doesn't go in the hole. I tried adjusting it, but keep getting the same outcome. Sure it's something simple, but thougth I would post here for additional help.

It's probably about 30% success rate.

No, I didn't, but that makes perfect sense.

I bent the metal back piece back a very small amount. There is not a lot of space between it and the plastic, but my tiny adjustment worked. The ball only bounces out about 10% of the time now.
