Bringing a T2 back from the dead, it had been sitting in a shed for the last 10 years with a fair bit or rust etc.

I am replacing the cabinet flipper switches as the existing ones are stuffed. I had two switches in my spares box that are brand new and are identical dimensions to the existing ones. When i put them in the machine, there was no flipper action or luck in switch edges test, yet when i short the switch with a jumper wire at the base where the wires are soldered it works.

So i removed the switch and tested it with the multimeter and i cannot get it to buzz out on the bench - even when i put the leads on the back of the pads at the top of the leaf that make contact. Is there a special (high voltage?) switch for T2, and any idea why i can't get continuity on the bench?

See pics of new switch

Thanks

Rob

They are vigh voltage contacts. You may just have some burnishing on them. If you do not have a burnishing file, take a 3x5 card or business card and put it between the contacts and drag back and forth a few times. See if you get continuity after that.

OK, thanks for that - so the ones pictured are correct for T2?

Yes. They are pretty standard for that era Williams/Bally/DE pins.

Only ones real different (lighter duty) are older Bally and the machines that use low voltage flipper buttons that then go to some sort of flipper module to drive the high power (like Fliptronic in newer Williams, or TYFFSI in Data East).

T2 is a good ole flipper coil voltage through the switch type machine meaning you need them beefy contacts.
