So in a pile of parts from a Gottlieb Haunted House there was an extra display with writing on the glass saying "Do NOT use will damage MPU". The dots on the glass are still black, not white, so I assume the glass might still be good. What could cause the damage to the MPU? I am replacing capacitors on the other 4 displays as well as the IC 6118's. If I replace all the caps, the IC's, and the resistor, will that fix what is going on in the display that says it has an issue?

Got it! I will look. I replaced the 6118 because I had missing segments even after repining the connectors. All good now. I will check the glass again really close.

So, here is what happened. The display that had writing on it stating it was bad, did not have a broken filament. However, one of my displays had the middle filament broken. That one has made it's way into the garbage. I replaced the TTL's, caps and resistor on the other, works good!

I was able to find some 6118's no problem. They are on eBay if you are looking for some. I also believe that the ones that I had on my boards were corrupted or shorted.

I was able to find NOS 6118’s, with the made in Philippines stamp underneath. I don’t trust China chips either, I’d rather go without it than screw around and do it twice. The problem I have now is finding a good source for different slow blow fuses since Radio Shack is gone. Thoughts?
