    I am looking at buying a System 7 game and the back-box and scoring is not working and dark.

    Is this potentially as simple as a blown fuse or a board issue?

    I have not seen the game in person yet and depending on the answer will determine if I do.

    You're not going to know the situation until you go look at it in person and poke around and investigate.
    Anything else is just assumptions.

    Could be a fuse, bad hi voltage section on power supply. 40 pin connection on driver board...

    Sure. or bad connectors, chip sockets, 40 pin interconnect, battery acid, on and on. If PF, BG, and cab were in nice cond, go for it IF the price is right.

    If it's still booting and going to attract mode (lights flashing, etc), I wouldn't worry about the BG not coming on. At very worst you're looking at a new set of displays (~$200), but that's rare. If it's not coming on at all then you've got board issues

    The play field has some lights on which gives me some hope it’s not major.
