While working on my Silver Slugger (Premier/Gottlieb System 3) the battery, which is attached to the board, snapped off. Without the battery the game is unplayable with a "Low Battery or Bad U3 or U6" code.

How do I reattach the battery?

Get a new CR2032 and battery holder. Don't try and solder directly to the battery

I believe you may be now stuck with unsoldering the clip and replacing it with a plastic battery holder.

FYI, you can still play your game while you are waiting to replace the battery.

Power it up and then press the white reset button near the center of the MPU board. This will get you past the bad U3/Battery error. But you will have to do it each time you turn power on.

Thanks for the quick response, especially the work around.

So the work around does work, sort of. When I press the reset button I get a high pitched screech. The game boots and plays. Problem is the game never ends. I was up to call number 10 when I decided to shut it down. Was this to be expected?

I will eventually replace the battery holder but in the meantime, is there a way to use the reset button but to play a normal 3 or 5 ball game?

Yes......you Always need to re-install the factory defaults after lost RAM settings due to an empty or low battery. Normal behaviour of Gottlieb system 3 games.

How does one reinstall those defaults?

I am assuming this is something I should wait to do until I reinstall the battery?

It is usually one of the options that comes up after you press the TEST button inside the coin door.

I have a silver slugger. Replace the battery with the battery and the battery holder about a month or two ago, it's been working great, and now all of a sudden it's back to the old low battery bad u3 or u6 and error message. Took the battery out and tested it. it reads 3 V tried another battery slightly different moddle number it reads 3 V, still getting the error message my soldering looks fine can anybody help me out.
