Here on Pinside, we've created 6+ clubs to promote the stars of the Class of System 3-9:
Barracora, Black Knight, Firepower, Gorgar, Sorcerer, Space Shuttle, etc...
Now we have a club for when you'd like to reach a wider Williams audience, and bring people together to discuss:

* troubleshooting
* repair
* finding replacement parts
* creating replacement parts
* buying/selling/trading parts
* sharing ideas

Hopefully we can bring together the biggest fans, and the sharpest minds in restoring these Williams classics from (1977-1985.)

If you have a question or contribution that you think may apply to all early Williams SS games, then this is the place to post it !

Starting to look more carefully at legs...

Wondering what the proper legs are for a Barracora?
Mine seem to have a single rib down the corner of the leg...
Anyone familiar with legs for System 7 in general?

My Space Shuttle has corner-ribbed chrome
My Barracora has corner-ribber black

I see with High Speed and forward, a half rib and later a full rib are introduced into the design...

Looking for help to create an index of all Williams games with evil pops -- any help appreciated...
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/most-evil-pop-pen
Do you know of any early Williams games with pops with direct line of sight to a drain?

Does anyone know what resistor this should be? It's connected to the Gorgar flash lamp for the snake pit.

thanks,
mof

I see the ones in Grand Lizard (sys11) are ceramic 330 ohm 7w. Should I upgrade to that one?

Just picked up a Defender. System 7. Rottendog MPU.
Sometimes when I flip on the power, the two LEDs on the MPU do not light up, and I'm stuck with just GI on.

Can someone give me the right connectors to reseat?
Just finished a marathon 20 hour shop job to pretty it up, and now I can't get in a game, LOL ! (It worked earlier.)

thanks,
mof

Swapped in a Rottendog power board from ANOTHER machine, and it works, so I'll start by testing and re-flowing the pins...

Tearing down a system 7 right now. Need about 10 machine and wood screws that hold up the plastics. Wondering if anyone has a favorite vendor for grabbing the closest replica to original. Sometimes these things get repro'd funny.

System 7:

a. switch test good
b. solenoid test good

1-player game won't start. (I have no battery pack atm, so I'm getting into attract mode via coin door switches)

Steps
1. I'm in attract mode
2. I can coin up
3. I click start, and the coin count drops by 1
4. High score bulb flashes... A few bonus lights light up in a particular order and repeat

Seems awfully close... Wait a sec -- doesn't that flashing mean...

SOLVED, ball trough switch issues... Ha. They work in switch test but not with 2 balls in there, will have to investigate further.

What's the best way to adjust system 7 drops so that when they reset, they don't drop again? I have a few that drop after reset (sometimes)

I loosened both of the thin metal brackets a few screw turns so that the drops would slide easier up and down...

Quoted from solarvalue:

Mof, it seems to me that problems with drops falling or not usually have to do with the metal leaf "spring" on the back of each drop target which holds each drop target up. If you remove the two screws holding that on you will be able to take it off and bend it slightly. You need to bend it in towards the target for your problem and out away from the target if your drops are not dropping when hit by the ball. If you get that adjustment right you can tighten the bracket again. I think loosening the bracket is usually a quick fix for the drops not dropping but if you get the leaf springs right you shouldn't need to have it loose.

Thanks will give that a try

SOLVED

So I'm on a Williams system7 with GI working on the lower PF. Those bulbs test properly at 6vac.

The top half of the playfield has no GI, but the sockets (10 of them) all test out fine at 5.9 to 6.2 vac.

I'm stumped. How can 10 sockets possibly fail with good voltage?

Question -- what is the name of the 2-pin molex latching connector for the GI input? (So I can go order one on digikey or something) I see the circle and the half-dome shapes...

I have a hacked up power board from a recent pick-up, and I want to find original parts so I can swap a rottendog from another machine.

-mof

(here it is in a different position, instead of bottom right) on the rottendog board.)
