My Firepower is having a display issue.

On my 3rd and 4th player displays it is displaying the wrong Numbers.

My 1's are 7's and my 4's are 9's

In other words the very top segment is constantly lit as 1 and 4 are the only numbers where this segment would be off.

This is for all digits on both displays (in test mode)

All other displays show correct numbers.

Any ideas? thanks

FYI, there's another recent thread here that's similar, alphanumeric display with the comma stuck on.

I don't have any useful advice personally, but I would bet that the diagnostic steps being explained in that thread would apply to your situation as well. You might want to check it out, even though it's for a newer machine. I'd guess that the basic technology of those displays didn't change much from 1980 to 1990.

This is segment a output from the 4543 (or 4558) from the BCD A2-D2.

Check for pulsing pins as indicated below.

If pin is pulsing it is probably the 7180. If the pin is not pulsing then check the BCD input pins (A2-D2) to do the differential diagnosis.
