    Hi Guys,

my Whirlwind recently strated resetting; I replaced the big filter electrolitic capacitor (C10?) first, but it didn't solve the issue. A friend of mine suggested me to replace the 5V voltage regulator (2N6057). I told him that I was going to buy a spare VR from china, but he suggested me to use a DC to DC converter instead: a XL4015.
Now, I can see a couple of problems with this:

    1) this is a 5A 180KHz PWM step down transformer, which means it outputs a pulsed 12V tension, with a MEAN 5V
    2) being that the 12V that juice the 2N6057 are not regulated, my 5V (mean) will not be regulated.

He is using this thing on his Indiana Jones without any issue since 2015.

What do you think? What do you suggest me to use in order to replace the obsolete, cina quality, 2N6057?

    Thank you very much

2N6284 is a good replacement for the 2N6057 and 2N6059 and it’s still available. But, from what I’ve seen, the smaller electrolytic caps are typically responsible for sys11 power supply issues (low 5V, resets, etc). I would do that before changing the regulator of modifying the circuit.

Yes, I had to say that I have already replaced all the electrolitic caps in the PSU board.
