Hey guys,

Thanks in advance for any replies on helping me diagnose this strange one.

I’ve got a Taxi (system 11B) with rows 2(Q81), 3(Q82), 5(Q84), and 6(Q85) out. I’ve replaced all TIP42’s with TIP42C’s, I’ve Replaced both 7406 at U55, and U56. The reason I replaced both IC’s, 1. They’re cheap. 2. When I ground out the TIP42 rows that aren’t working they light.

I’m stumped. Any suggestions?

Have you already replaced the connectors that the rows travel through? If not, I'd be replacing those at the CPU and at the interconnect board.

Also, that area of the board gets super hot, and the traces can get burnt and fall apart. Inspect all relevant traces as well as you can.

Problem solved! So the column side of the matrix uses TIP42 transistors, however, the row side needs TIP102/122. All lamps working fine now!
